The Upstairs Hideaway

Relax and refresh at the Upstairs Hideaway on Whittington. Conveniently located in downtown Mount Ida within walking distance of restaurants, shops, parks and the museum. Just minutes away from Lake Ouachita and crystal digs.

Newly constructed upstairs apartment with open living room/kitchen area with queen sleeper sofa. Bedroom with bunk beds and closet space. Many comfy pillows and blankets available. Kitchen well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils, pots and pans, ice maker, condiments, reverse osmosis system for drinking water and ice and a dishwasher. Bathroom has large shower, good lighting, a hair dryer and small containers of necessities just in case. Out on the patio there is a gas grill and a wood firepit.

Behind the apartment is a perfect place to wash crystals, dirty boots, dirty kids, etc. A water hose and tubs are available. If you would like to use the gas grill just ask for the propane cylinder and I will hook it up. There is also an extra stall in the ground floor garage which can be used to store large valuables like bicycles or park your car inside during bad weather.

Absolutely perfect place. We were a little hesitant about sleeping on a pullout couch, but it was extremely comfortable and really fit. The host had so many little considerations that it felt like being in your friend’s house. Extremely clean every convenience you can think of.

Owner is nice, the property is clean and well decorated. The couch bed is like any other, not all that comfortable, but it worked out. Not many food options around and the only grocery store nearby is a bit overpriced.

Wonderful!

My friend and I made a special trip to go digging for quartz and diamonds and this was the perfect spot to stay! Paula's space was very clean, convenient, safe, and thoughtful. She was kind enough to leave some tools for us to borrow for our dig and recommended a great spot for swimming!! Definitely would recommend to anyone making a trip to Mt. Ida and I plan to stay again in the future.

I was impressed with the great craftsmanship of the apartment. It was very well equipped with lots of extras- there were cooking ware that you could cook anything you would want, plus a grill if you want! There were extra pillows, linens, towels, TP, etc. Anything you might need! In back there was a nice space for cleaning rocks- with a strainer and variety of brushes as well. I sat on the patio in the evenings and one night got to listen to pee wee football being announced over the loud speakers at the high school. It made me smile. The space was so comfortable and homey! Absolutely loved it!!! Thank you!

Bike trip

Perfect spot for our weekend bike trip. Awesome accommodations, easy access to town and close to trails. Nice quiet location and Paula is a wonderful and helpful host. We will definitely be staying here again

Great Place, Thoughtful Hosts

My wife and son and I stayed here one night before we picked up our daughter from Camp Ozark. The check in process was simple, the property was VERY well stocked (plenty of linens, toiletries, etc...), and it was just as advertised. There are lots of activities and things to do in this area, and the hosts have done a great job compiling brochures, information, and their recommendations for those activities and local restaurants. I would definitely recommend this property and stay here again.

Amazing, comfortable and convenient! I have stayed in several places in the area the last few weeks and this is BY FAR the BEST! Honestly the pictures don’t do it justice at all. It is on the smaller side, but so cozy and brand new with high end fixtures and features. Beds were very comfortable and there were many extra blankets and sheets available. Everything was available for coffee and any other items you need for your stay. FYI: there is only room to park 2 cars so not to block the garage doors, but this was fine for us. Also, there was an extra twin mattress in the closet that was very helpful to us! Hope this is available when we come to the area again!!

Peaceful and quaint

The property is set in a beautiful quiet area, the interior of the property and exterior of the property are new and very upgraded. Fabulous kitchen, amazing bathroom, almost better than home. The outside property was easy to access with seating and a fire pit and also a grill. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay it was amazing thank you Paula for everything

This is a great place to stay!

My husband and I loved staying at the upstairs hideaway. The first positive we noticed after arriving was that it was nice and clean. You can tell that the host took the extra time to make sure that even the small things were taken care of. Aside from the hideaway being so clean, it was a comfortable place to stay. It felt very safe and I was able to fully relax and sleep well while staying there. Checking in and out was a breeze and the host was very kind and down to earth. Aside from the physical place that we stayed in, we were takenhe state of Arkansas is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend that everyone plan a trip to Arkansas and stay at the Upstairs hideaway when you go! You will not be disappointed!
