Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful beach week with perfect accommodations. Washing machine was broken up on our arrival and it was replaced with a new unit immediately.

There was one bathroom that was a little outdated but it was very clean!! The house has so many positives that that was the least of our worries. We used the dock on the inlet daily!! We will definitely be renting this home again.

The view of the marsh from the deck is magnificent, and the convenience of being creek-front and just second row back from ocean really does provide for the best of both worlds. Having the second den and kitchen downstairs is nice to have too. The only real negative is that the furniture in the upstairs den area is wicker and just not comfortable at all for lounging. Fortunately the weather was great and we didn't have to spend much time inside anyway - but the owners would do well to spend a few dollars on more practical seating upstairs. And onecaution for prospective renters planning to bring a boat - the boat ramp apparently belongs to the adjacent property. The listing did not represent that it had a private boat ramp, but the photos did look like the boat ramp was part of the property (I should have asked). We were fortunate that the owners of the property next door were there during our stay and didn't mind us using the ramp. Finally, it would be very helpful if the realty company would provide a floor plan and/or label the pictures to provide a sense for how the bedrooms/baths are situated. There is one master bed/bath upstairs off the den with an "ocean view". Both the master and the other queen bedroom upstairs are more spacious than we expected. The third upstairs bedroom (full + bunk beds) right off the kitchen is tiny and feels even smaller with the bunk beds - which are really completely impractical for anyone except very small children anyway. None of the bedrooms except the upstairs master have adjoining baths (not a problem, but good to know for planning your stay). Also important to note that both of the downstairs bedrooms (queen and two twins) have doors directly to the outside, which may affect sleeping arangements as well (esp. for those with younger kids). This is a nice house and a great location. We had a fantastic week and we'll probably rent again next year.

The house was great just wished it was closer to the pier really a great rental garden city worked great with us to make a vacation we would remember Brad from the reality office was great he could not have done anymore than what he did to find us another rental all worked out and we had a great week. Family Vacation at Hickory Nuts

Reviewer Comments: I visited this home several years ago when friends were renting and there have been some nice updates made since then. The location on the creek and just across the street from the beach was ideal for our family! It was nice to have a dining table on the back deck for evening meals and morning coffee. It is GREAT having two kitchens! When we arrived, there was a considerable amount of dog hair on the carpets. Although we brought a large, rubber play mat to cover the floor, if he crawled off of the mat, he had dog hair on his hands and clothes. I called the office and they promptly sent a different person to clean it again. His name was Shawn and he spent several hours there and did an EXCELLENT JOB!!! The carpets were very clean and he was quite meticulous and had a great personality!We had also requested the HVAC filters be changed and even though it was a "maintenance man" requirement, Shawn changed the filter for us as well. The next day, we noticed a large wet spot on the carpet in one of the downstairs bedrooms. I called in the request for service. The drain line had overflowed and caused the leak...I was told someone would come back and bring large fans to dry the carpet, but that never happened. Overall, we had a nice week, but it would have been much nicer without those issues. We would like this location again next year, but I'm not sure I would rent it if pets continue to be is just impossible to clean all of the dog hair up after an animal has been inside for a week. Between the dog hair and the filthy AC filter...anyone with allergies would have a difficult time staying there...

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: we love this area of Garden City and enjoy year after year of stay here. I must say, though, that this particular house was not clean. The air intake grill looked as though it had not been changed in a VERY long time. there were wood walls in the house, and dust was draped troughout along walls as they had not been swept / vacuumed or dust mopped. There was a suspicious smell in the house, and to our horror, when the lower floor microwave was opened, there was a shrimp dish that had been warmed up and left prior to our arrival. We love this area, but the cleanliness of this house was very sub par. The layout and accessories in the house were fine, it was simply not clean at all. We did have a door knob fall off and the staff and maintenance were super fast and attentive to get it fixed for us.

Dock and deck has rotten wood on seats and railings falling off front of the house. We rented the property to use the dock and it was marginal for comfort of use or safety. Since deck seating not usable the outside furniture was totally inadequate, picnic table nasty and space for food in kitchen at all.

Bring your jet skis!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The only hitch occurred Friday afternoon when we were trying to pull our jet skis out of the water. Someone who is a personal friend of the owner of the beach house next door blocked the boat ramp. We picked up and moved his trailer, allowing us to get down the ramp and retrieve our jet skis. When the individual returned an hour later, I took issue with them, telling them next time to not block the driveway. They were not happy (they thought because the owner told them, all was good), and neither were we.

Because of the location, the beach was not crowded. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the marsh. There was one problem with the A/C, but that was fixed the same day we called about it.
