Thanksgiving at DeBordieu

The service received from Peace Vacations was EXCELLENT; I couldn't ask for more. The house was fine, i.e. very clean, good location,& well equipped; but the gathering areas were a bit too small for our family. All-in-all DeBordieu is a great place to spend a family Thanksgiving!

My family members stayed in this house from 7/1-7/8. AS always ( We have rented this house for a number of years) the house was in good condition and served us well. I would also like to commend your rental office staff who were a real pleasure to deal with.

Great vacation house for big families

We were staying over a weekend at this location. It is a beautiful house. Both inside and outside a well maintained. The rooms are large and cozy for everyone in our family. It is very convenient to go to the beach. It seems that they have more to offer here but unfortunately we don't have time to explore. I am very happy that I select this place for our vacation! The only thing we might complain is the mosquitoes since we are there in mid-Summer. So do bring a lot of bug repellent. The back porch is covered by screen so you still can enjoy the lake view outside.

Carolina on my mind

The customer service was poor this year. We tried several times to get thru to Peace and couldn't reach a person. We sent An email asking several questions at 8 am and it wasn't responded to until after 5 pm. This was very disappointing considering the price we paid to stay. The shower in the downstairs bath is horrible. It is filled with mold and mildew. It definitely needs updating. We had to call to get batteries for smoke alarm since it was beeping and we had to connect the. Cable ourselves. The extra additional cost of 200 to swim is over the top. It should be included in cost upfront.

Good house

We had a great time at Carolina On My Mind in DeBordieu. The house was nice with plenty of space, comfortable rooms, a well-stocked (overstocked--too much stuff in that tiny kitchen!) kitchen, and good AC. The house does need updates. While we were there, one of the hot water heaters broke and needed to be replaced, so we didn't have hot water in half the house for the whole week. Maintenance responded promptly, but it wasn't a problem that could be solved during our stay. The bathroom fixtures need to be replaced. They leak and squeak; some of the hot-cold indicators are backwards, and the kitchen faucet is on its last leg. The house has no outside hose, which is bizarre for a beach house. We looked all over for it in the garage and around the entire house, but we couldn't find one, so there was no way to wash off sandy feet after a day at the beach. The screened porch is not screened in. The screens are broken, so we weren't able to enjoy the porch without getting bit by bugs. Finally, the house is not a 5-minute walk to the beach as advertised. It's a 5-minute walk to the beach access point in the Ocean Oaks neighborhood. From there, it's another 10 minutes on a sandy path (3/4 mile total in walking distance). Owners are allowed to drive their golf carts along this path and park at the beach, but renters must walk. While we enjoyed ourselves and always love coming to DeBordieu, I'm surprised that such an outdated house so far from the beach was advertised and priced in such a way.
