Beautiful house and grounds. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding area, berry picking, a boat ride, hiking and the local historic church. No shortage of books on the many bookshelves!

Hidden gem

We were so pleased when we opened the door to our cottage, pictures were spot on. Windows all around fabulous views.Lovely little quiet cove, absolutely perfect.

Old Bonaventure House

Delightful, spacious house with every convenience. Lovely spot overlooking the harbor, beautiful gardens. Amazing kitchen, sun room and lots of books. We had perfect weather so no time to read. So much to do nearby!

Excellent and unique

The accommodation is spacious, well equipped and clean. It overlooks the fishing hamlet and is so quiet. It provides easy access to all the local places to visit and then come home to relax. We cannot recommend this home highly enough.

New Bonaventure

Absolutely amazing place. If you like tranquility and peace, this is for you. The house is clean and spacious and the views are amazing. We watched two moose on the other side of the harbour for a couple of hours one evening. We also watched fishermen bringing in their catch and loading them for market. 5 STARS!!

This is a wonderful house with amazing views of the harbor, fishing boats, and the small village. There is a great and eclectic library and lots of spots to curl up, read, and relax. There are beautiful gardens - and we were lucky enough to be there when many things were in full bloom. It's very quiet, but only a short drive to the Trinity Heritage Village and about an hour to the Elliston Puffin Viewing Site. We had puffins come up within about 15 feet of us there. Our host, Dawne, met us when we arrived and gave us a full introduction to the house. We couldn't recommend this more highly!

Super eclectic

This a very large 2 bedroom home perched on a hill overlooking a quaint fishing village. Each comfortable room has an ensuite bathroom.Lovely sunroom in which to relax with a BBQ right outside. The home is full of books and interesting collectables. The wood stove is supplied with plenty of wood and kindling. The kitchen is suppled with every utensil imaginable. Our host was a lovely, helpful welcoming person. Highly recommend.

A reader’s paradise

Dawne’s home is beyond description. Bookshelves line the walls in every room, windows encompass the living room with views of the Old Bonaventure Bay; there’s a lovely wrap around porch and a warm sun room…it’s impossible to choose a favorite spot. The kitchen is fully stocked and large enough for everyone to get in to help with supper. The garden is unbelievable, too. Every time you find a treasure, there are ten more to discover here.

Cure for a busy world

The property is spectacular with open concept and breathtaking views of a tiny fishing village. The serenity is palpable and you know it is special when lifelong residence drop by to welcome you. Dawne is a wonderful hostess and maintains the rustic allure. Well done, Dawne!

This place is a treasure

We stay here at least once a year, usually over the holidays, and it is an absolute treasure of a place. Dawne, the owner, keeps making thoughtful upgrades while keeping the soul of this wonderful spot. Just the best place to cook a good meal and curl up with a book.

This place is indeed charming and more.The house is nestled into a hillside,surrounded by gardens and mature trees.And yet, the many windows in the expansive sunroom/ family room offer an amazing view of the litlle harbour and open water. We watched the fishing boats go in and out the harbour throughout the day and would walk down to the dock to visit and watch them work.What a Newfoundland experience!This house had everything we needed,; a well equipped kitchen,hundreds of books to pursue, and a beautiful piano with music books.We met the lovely neighbors, and were given some fresh cods from the lady down the road. This is a " must return" place for me in Newfoundland. Thanks Dawne.

Cottage Stay in Old Bonaventure

My husband and I recently stayed at Dawne's cottage in Old Bonaventure for 2 nights. We absolutely would have loved to have stayed longer. The cottage is really comfortable and cozy. Lots of areas to relax in. Clean, spacious. It has everything you need for an extended stay. Comfortable bed, nice towels. Nice touch to leave local teas and coffee beans for our use, as well as the chocolates! Old Bonaventure is quite out of the way, however, the drive in is very scenic, and with the cottage overlooking the small fishing village, it really exposes you to local life in NL. Trinity is a short drive away, and there are endless other sites in the Bona Vista peninsula to occupy your time while in the area. Wish we would have built in more time to just enjoy our surroundings and the cottage itself. Would recommend to others.

We had a spectacular, magical experience and stay at this incredibly Charming Cottage!! It was a homey, warm, inviting space! The view, overlooking the small fishing village, was so peaceful!! There were lots of nooks in the cottage to go to read and enjoy time to yourself. The beds were the most comfortable we have slept in and the kitchen had everything you needed to make a meal. It was a close drive to Trinity, where we went to an amazing production, Teresa’s Creed, at the Rising Tide Theatre! We enjoyed coffee/lunch at the Two Whales Cafe in Port Rexton! There was a great balance of enjoying downtime but also exploring this beautiful area! Dawne was great for keeping in touch. Called us to help with directions and met us there to welcome us! Overall a fantastic experience!! I would highly recommend this Charming Cottage.
