Beach Front Cottage, warmest waters north of the Carolinas

  • We are centrally located - a great place to stay for a restful vacation, and/or as a starting off point to explore other parts of Nova Scotia such as Halifax and the south shore, or Cape Breton to the east, or PEI to the north (via nearby ferry). We still have some available dates in June, the second half of September, and all of October to accept new bookings. Our preference is to have guests book week-long stays starting at 3:00pm on Sundays to the following Sunday with an 11:00am departure.

    Roomy and comfortable, perfect for a family vacation! Golden sand beach out front*. Fabulous views of the Northumberland Strait, including Pictou Island, the PEI ferry crossing, and sometimes even PEI itself. Three bedrooms that comfortably sleep six. One full & one half bathroom. Large eat-in kitchen. Separate living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. Enclosed front porch and new front deck for morning coffee. Big back deck for afternoon/evening BBQ. 10 minute drive to Melmerby Beach (best public beach in Nova Scotia), 15 minute drive to New Glasgow. 30 minute drive to the PEI ferry located at Caribou NS. 2 hour drive to downtown Halifax. Choice of 4 local golf courses (two 18 and two 9 hole). Cross-fit gym available in New Glasgow as well as a yoga studio and the Pictou County Wellness Center. Great local roads for cycling, and trails for hiking/biking. Attractions include the Museum of Industry in New Glasgow, and the deCoste Performing Arts Center in Pictou. Day trips include the town of Antigonish - you can could also continue east to access Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail, and Fortress Louisburg, or you could instead drive north around beautiful Cape George (the "little Cabot Trail") parts of which can actually be seen toward the east from the front deck of the Cottage itself!

    * Depending on the severity of winter storms which can take away the beach sand (as in 2024), or bring it back again - we are right next to the ocean after all...

    For your peace of mind: VRBO is the only third party website we use to rent the Cottage. ANY OTHER LISTING of the Cottage (aside from authorized sister companies of VRBO) is not authorized, and could be fraudulent.

We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was hot & sunny every day so the kids were able to enjoy the ocean and sandy beach during the day, and have smores at the beach bonfire at night. The cottage is very clean with lots of room . The covered sun porch out front was amazing !

The cottage looks directly out on the ocean and offers an amazing vista each day regardless of the weather. Really enjoyed the many hours on the beach enjoying the views, relaxing, swimming and reading. Cathie and BJ are wonderful hosts attentive to every need.

Another Great Stay

Our fourth year here and it does not disappoint! Beach is beautiful and and easy access to day trips to PEI or Cape Breton is the weather is not cooperating. Jacqueline had the place spotless for our arrival and JB the caretaker and his life partner Kate are true gems! Highly recommend this location!

The location on a bluff overlooking the water was superb. The cottage was clean and well-equipped. The caretakers were friendly and helpful in any situation. Beachfront Cottage

Had another excellent stay at our favorite Blackpoint Cottage . Coming here is like coming home. The cottage is clean and spacious and welcoming. It is fully equipped and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cathy and BJ the property managers are terrific and are there at a moments notice if you have any questions ... and dealing with the owner is seamless! Second time was as good as the first!

This was a return visit and like the first time, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at " Beach Front Cottage". We have family in the area so the location was perfect for visiting and catching up. From the front window you can watch the fishermen bring in their catch early in the morning, enjoy visits from the local deer population, or just watch the water coming into shore, the view is spectacular. The cottage is well supplied with everything you will need. Arrive, unpack, sit back and enjoy!

So relaxing

Stunning views both sunrise and sunset and everywhere in between. The cottage was completely functional, had great breeze off the water and cozy. We had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. Initially we booked for one week and jumped at the chance for the second week! 14 days was not enough time to relax and unwind and take in the breeze off the water! Wonderful spot!
