A hidden haven
Jennifer and Eric provided a beautiful apartment and every consideration for the guest had been thought of. The decor and high end details were noticed and absolutely loved our stay here. When coming to Newcastle again, I will definitely reach out to stay again....loved Excelsior! A must do when in Merewether.

Fantastic apartment
This self contained apartment which is attached to the hosts home was perfect for our stay.perfectly clean, well decorated and furnished. The hosts left a nice welcome food package which was appreciated. Walking distance to Merewether surf house and a short drive to Newcastle. Perfect thanks

Beautifully decorated, wth attention to detail in every space! We were very happy with the amenities and the personal touches of staple groceries & extras to make our stay all the more welcoming and enjoyable. The location was prime, close to beaches, great restaurant options and endless sources of entertainment within the Newcastle area. Accomodation in Newcastle
We stayed here for five nights and could not fault a thing! It was exceptionally clean and everything is of top quality. We had everything we could need for our stay, even an umbrella for the one rainy day. All appliances are high quality. It was lovely to have an ironing board and iron which I would be happy to use at home! Our hosts were friendly and very helpful. Even though this property only has one bathroom the layout is perfect with separate shower/bath, toilet and a double vanity so we could all get ready for our evenings out without waiting. Perfect place to stay, thank you 😊

Stayed here with my daughter after a visit to Linguard Private Hospital. Very convenient to hospital and everything we needed. Beautifully appointed unit, with the owner supplying lots of extras - which were much appreciated. Amazing bathroom and large bedrooms. Kitchenette is tiny, but that's ok as there are many food options around. Owners live downstairs and are v friendly.

Exquisite Merewether retreat
We feel very lucky to have been able to spend the weekend in Merewether, calling such a gorgeous apartment home. We reunited with a treasured family member and the space was perfect to share. Wonderful touches of luxury much appreciated. Our hosts thought of everything & gave us all the space we needed. Would be delighted to stay again, if our schedules allow.

So Amazing
We absolutely loved our weekend at Excelsior. The apartment was fantastic and had so many creature comforts. Bedding was oh so fresh and comfy and everything was gorgeous right down to the handwash - Jenny has done an amazing job! Oh and did I mention short walk to beach, cafes, newsagent, bakery and restaurants. Perfect!

Contemporary well equipped property
This is a very contemporary two bedroom apartment on the top floor of Jenny and Erics house. It is easily accessible through their side gate and up a flight of stairs. The apartment was immaculate and Jenny had thought of everything required including hairdryer and iron. There was yogurt and biscuits in the fridge and T2 tea and coffee in the cupboard. The beds were comfortable and the living area had a kitchenette with microwave. The location was an easy walk to the beach and a short drive to Darcy St and other locations in Newcastle. It was quiet at night but the neighbours small dog does get up around 6.30 in the morning. The apartment has an outlook to the park. Very comfortable place with friendly but not intrusive hosts.

Fantastic getaway
We highly recommend Merewether Excelsior. The location, the property and the owners would have to be the best accommodation we have ever stayed. Beautiful and clean. This property is worth more than 5 stars.

The peace and comfort that we were desperately seeking was found as we walked in the door.
We arrived a lot later than planned and were met by Jenny's husband who was so warm and friendly, adding to my sense of relief as they'd waited for us to arrive. I walked in and sat down immediately feeling at home. The release of pressure from the day was instantly felt. We felt like royalty in our 6+ star accomodation. It was just as it had been described but being there it was even better than expected. Enough room for us all to be together to watch a movie and enough to relax alone. The double outlook in the top bedroom gave such a beautiful ambiance. I was happy to just stop and be and take my time. I never felt the need to get out because of being confined or uncomfortable, where l have at other high end accomodation. I felt completely at home. There was not a thing not thought of, which gave me the special feeling of being thought of. To not worry about stopping for milk etc, which we always have to do, was such a big thing for me. I cannot recommend Merewether Excelsior highly enough and will not be looking elsewere in the future. Thankyou so much Jenny and Eric. My only regret was having to leave. Cannot wait for our next visit.

Excellent family stay near the beach in Newcastle/Merewether
Guest house is very nicely appointed and well located with nice welcome gifts in the bar fridge on arrival. The kitchenette is exactly that - we would make a cooked breakfast but it would be harder to prepare full meals. Location is 3 blocks from Merewether beach and baths, an easy walk. The owners are wonderful and thoughtful - they responded to every question and request during our stay. The washer/dryer was handy during our son’s cricket tournament. We would absolutely stay here again.

Lovely quite spot that is central to everything Newcastle has to offer. The hosts are welcoming and help to get you set then are invisible... Truly a Great Experience

Wonderful weekend
Thank you Jenny!! We had such a great stay in Merewether. Loved the accommodation! So many little touches made it an easy stay. The items in the fridge, lots of fresh towels, even kids toothpaste which saved the day! So quiet and close to the beach for us country folk to take advantage of. I think the only thing that would have made the kids happier was having an invite to the girls party next door!

Our week stay was brilliant from start to finish.The apartment was perfect, the location great a stroll to the beach and surf club. We had my 80 yr old Mum with us, nothing was too much trouble. We did not know prior to booking that the owners lived underneath. This was not a problem, it was like they were never there! The apartment was luxurious, the bath robes were fabulous and the little treats in the fridge made the arrival special. The apartment was fully equipped, everything you could want (apart from a pen and paper). I would definitely stay there again and highly reccomend it.

Wonderful stay
We had a wonderful stay in this luxurious upstairs apartment. The owners live below, which we didn’t realise before we booked and I was a little taken back at first but you wouldn’t even know they were there. They were extremely quiet and you couldn’t hear any noise whatsoever from their home below. Everything was immaculate and appliances were first class. The kitchen was very small but we didn’t intend on cooking at all and we ate out most days. The little touches like the food in fridge upon arrival, tooth brushes, top quality soaps and shampoos, were all wonderful little things we were surprised with. It was close to everything we needed, the only small issue was a crying baby extremely close each morning which woke us but still didn’t stop our enjoyable time spent there Thanks jenny & Eric

Wonderful stay in the Merewether Excelsior
We booked the Excelsior for a long weekend and it was the perfect place for a get away. The apartment was spotless and Jenny had thought of everything and more to make our stay comfortable - from the yoghurt, fruit and muffins in the fridge to the bathrobes hung in the walk-in wardrobe. The apartment is in a great location, being in a quiet street whilst close to the Junction and the beach. We will definitely book again next time we are in Merewether!

I cannot begin to express what a lovely place this is to stay. The accommodation was truly 5 star with every detail perfected . All the linen was Sheridan quality ,soaps in the bathroom were of high quality .Everything we could possibly want was there in the bathroom cupboards .Beautiful Sheridan bathrobes in the walk- in wardrobes as well as umbrellas and ponchos (if needed) Th kitchenette was just enough . Our fridge was filled with food when we arrived ,beautiful teas and wine . All appliances were of the best brands- Smeg , Miele . The beds were very comfortable . The little balcony as great to eat our Breakfast on and the view was lovely . Only a short walk to the beach ,restaurants , bakery and newsagent was a treat for us coming form a rural area. Food at the restaurants was great. Not a bad meal anywhere. The owners were lovely people and so accommodating. The hairdressing salon at the front of the house is highly recommended - a lovely holiday treat to walk down the stairs to have your hair done ! The Mereweather Excelsior would out -do any 5 star hotel .!

Everything you need!
This place is absolutely amazing! The whole space is furnished and decorated to make it feel so homely and comfortable. The bedrooms were a great size with amazing branded sheets and pillows for extra comfort. The bathroom had everything we needed from extra towels, to quality shampoo and conditioner as well as other small necessities that are sometimes forgotten like toothbrushes & toothpaste. We were very surprised also with some fresh fruit, milk and yoghurt left in the fridge. Overall a great stay and we will be back! Highly recommended!!

Beautiful apartment
We are a family of four, two adults and two small children aged between 1 and 3, who stayed at the Merewether Excelsior for two nights. The apartment is absolutely stunning and in a great location, just a short walk from the beach and restaurants. Jenny was a wonderful host, who really does think of everything her visitors may need. The welcome pack of bread, milk etc. was a particularly nice gesture, which provided us with breakfast for the entire weekend. The books for the kids were also a really nice touch. We're seasoned travels but travel with small children can be stressful. However, on this occasion it was a truly enjoyable experience. We will most definitely be returning to the Excelsior in the not too distant future. Thank you Jenny.

A lovely place to stay.
With the beach down the street and an oval right behind the house this place was perfect for my family with our 2 active boys. We enjoyed the extra touches like Sheridan sheets, Aesop soap and lotions and Nespresso coffee machine. I was even able to pamper myself with an appointment to get my hair done at the salon downstairs. We had a lovely stay.

Excellent 5 star accomodation
Great accommodation in a very quiet area. Everything was high class. Beds and bedrooms excellent. If your looking for top quality accommodation in a good area this is it. Only downside is kitchen facilities which are minimal.
