The apartment check-in system worked, and while our room was superficially clean, closer inspection revealed several stains on the carpet and a dirty cup. The bathroom also appeared reasonably clean when we arrived but subsequently was unsatisfactory with used towels scattered and no toilet paper available! Our greatest disappointment was in the inability of Alexanderapartments to fulfil a contract to offer accommodation within walking distance of our destination and to delay notification of this until we were about to set off. The last-minute change to South Shields (a poor substitute) led to another unfilled commitment (to provide travel to the venue) and instead of leisurely walks to and from the event we were attending caused us three hours of queueing and travel in ultra-congested trains thus turning what should have been an unalloyed pleasure into a most unpleasant experience. I reiterate : our main reason - and willingness to pay the significant sum requested - for choosing your Southwick apartments was their location. At the time of booking, there were several significantly cheaper offers in locations similarly-distant to South Shields for which we could have opted. I think Expedia should question whether or not this is a suitable organisation for them to deal with. Alexanderapartments let us down badly.

The mattress was very terrible I had to sleep on the floor on my first night there, they changed it the second day anyway, but I am sure the mattress didn’t just go bad, but they still put the room up for bookings. Also the heating does almost nothing to reduce the cold in the room. The kitchen was nice though.

Shocking .
Absolutely shocking.. got All the way there to be told they didn't have my booking .. absolutely no help . Clearly a flat above a shop .. I was told there was no room having to call the place myself .. Offered a place on the other side of the city with no way to get there in the dark..

Avoid if you can. Lack of communication from the company. They told me to go to a particular room and it was occupied. Toilet locks are not working, be prepared someone can walk into you.

Nice comfortable flat in good area in Sunderland. Communication good only downside was entry door was bolted a couple of times by the neighbouring flat however they came down on both occasions to let me in. Recommend this property.
