This cottage is great! Out in the quiet woods! Perfect for a couple. We definitely want to book when we come back to see friends in the area. The setting is perfect! Love the porch, the woods up the back of the property. Once the fruit trees/bushes etc are in bloom it will be even more idyllic! I would definitely recommend having a non-low vehicle as some of those roads are a little ruddy.
Would love to have had a full length mirror as it was hard to get ready for Easter Sunday service with just the bathroom mirror.
This is overall a wonderful and perfect place for a couple or with one small child.
The cabin was secluded and quite...just what we needed for a weekend get away. Great little town about miles up the road was close enough and far enough away at the same time. Had no issues...bed slept good. Just wished there was a tv in the living room.
Attended the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and this cabin was in a great location. Really clean and neat. Driveway is rocked. Will definitely book again for the next trip!
We loved this little cabin! Quiet & secluded! However i wish the property details included that it is so far up a gravel road. My car is pretty low. I'm glad it didn't rain while we were there that might have washed the road some. The porch is great however the trees in front block the view. I emailed the owner with a few other concerns but never heard back :(
This sweet little cabin was the perfect answer to our need to get out of the noisy city for the weekend; it was so peaceful.
Property was clean and easy to access. The bed has an extra firm mattress, so if you are used to softer ones, this may be an issue. We slept fine both nights.
Easy check in and out process. Will definitely come back!
This cottage was super cute and secluded. It was very clean. Check in was easy. The listing had a hot tub as an amenity, but the house did not have one. The bed was also super hard and uncomfortable. Otherwise everything else was wonderful.
Property was as described. As with other reviews, the property was very clean. Private and a lovely porch that could be accessed both from the living room and the bedroom. The negatives: we slept on the couch the second night. The bed is very hard. We had a better nights sleep from the couch. The bathroom sink drains very slow. The microwave handle is completely broken at the bottom and will probably break completely off soon. Lastly, the kitchen has very limited supplies. Unfortunately we can’t recommend this place solely based on the bed.
The cottage is clean and well kept. The owner has put in a lot of effort to make it a comfortable place. Temperature-wise, it is about 15 degree cooler than major cities in NC like Charlotte and Raleigh.
One minor issue we had was that the Wi-fi wasn't very reliable. In some hours it was working fine, but in others I would lose connectivity every few minutes. There probability isn't anything anyone could do about it. I never had to use the landline, but I was definitely glad to know it was there considering that we were in the woods with zero wireless signal.
The owner listed fishing as one of the activities in the area. When making the reservation, I included in my message a question about whether there were places she could recommend. I never received a response. That was a little disappointing.
This clean, comfortable, cabin was perfect for returning to after a day at the games, on Grandfather Mountain. It was farther away from the games than we thought when booking (never judge by miles, in the mountains). However, the shuttle ran from Avery High School, just a 15-min drive from the cabin, and the lines for that particular shuttle were significantly shorter than the others. So, the location actually turned out to be a plus. There are no eateries or convenience stores right around the cabin and for my fellow flatlanders: the roads are challenging! I was happy to have a 4-wheel drive. Know how to manually downshift! I gave my aunt the bedroom and brought an air mattress for the living room. As there is no tv in the living room, it was not a big deal for it to be treated as a 2nd bedroom. In retrospect, the sectional would have sufficed nicely for a single sleeper. AC worked great. Plenty of hot water for back-to-back showers and decent pressure to boot. We also used the washer & dryer without issue.
We LOVED this house and property and didn't want to leave!! It had everything we needed; we even cooked there one night. We came to the area to explore Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain, and this was the perfect location. We would not hesitate to book this home again!
