The room seemed clean, dirty towel that was left was removed after this was pointed out. Room was well equipped with coffee maker and kettle, nice modern bathroom. To our surprise the room was not cleaned during the day and towels not refreshed. Also coffee, tea, water etc was not replenished. Breakfast in the local pub across the square was not good. No fresh fruit for instance and the used ingredients were not the best.

Fantastic stay. The most central location you could have in Newport - the bus garage was right next door which took us to all the tourist locations that I would recommend - the needles, shanklin beach, carisbrook castle and the garlic farm. The guesthouse also has an excellent Thai restaurant downstairs, great food, really delicious and great price. Charterhouse is located right next to the main high street stores as well as a large Morrisons. The proprietar was really nice. The place has just started out for a year, so do book your next stay!

Central location is good and bad as close to bars and restaurants but noisy after closing. Good sized rooms are individually decorated. Reception area is kinda awkward. Fob access doors often don't secure properly and were found to be ajar.

Quite a quirky property. Our room was large with a comfy bed and plenty of storage. Large modern bathroom. Coffee machine, kettle, iron and hairdryer. The staff are really friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is at the Wheatsheaf, a short strole across the square. On the ground floor of the hotel is a Thai restaurant, Thai by Ja, serving the most delicious food. I can highly recommend it. The hotel is close to shops, restaurants, pubs and the bus station, with buses to take you all over the island. Rooms are on second and third floors and there is no lift.

Wonderful room. Not a bland, typical hotel room at all. Good lighting, towels of a good quality, great storage, table/desk space. Coffee machine! Bonus to have had breakfast included - a good breakfast too. Dinner at the adjacent Thai restaurant very nice. Owner bent over backwards in helpfulness and care.

Unfortunately not a great stay for a business trip. The hotel is not staffed so you are messaged to complete registration prior to arrival, this should then be followed up for check in details. This did not arrive so I had no access to the hotel nor know which room I was to check in to. I had to disturb the restaurant staff who appeared to be on a lunch break at 3pm and they then had to search out my details, there was some confusion and delay but they helped as best they could. The location is very central but noisy with bars and the restaurant below. The parking directions are not great and the local multi story closes at 7pm and on Sundays is not unlocked until 9am so not ideal, I parked on the outskirts of Newport and walked in. The room was noisy as it was next door to a laundry room which appeared to be in use until about 9pm, again not ideal when needing an early night for work. Finally the room itself was not very clean, tv remote was caked in dust and grime, toilet and shower not cleaned, the coffee maker covered in stains. There was no reception area or clear contact details to raise any of these concerns with frustratingly.

Perfect.and central location.

I stayed at Charter gouse for business over the weekend. What amazing rooms, so individually done, the look is amazing. Really spacial room and amazing bath in the bathroom. Fibre WiFi really fast too, which is essential in business trips for me. What is also great is the restaurant joined to the hotel at the reception area. So you do not have to leave the hotel. Amazing Thai restaurant, that gets their food from aithentic sorces imcluding some from Thailand. Would so recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a stay in Newport, perfectly central place to stay in the IOW.

We stayed for 1 night in the weekend, the place was clean and spacious but the lights were a little dim and the bed squeezed a lot each time one of us moved. There was also lots of noise from outside.

Very quiet, quirky, gorgeous bathroom and air con if needed. The carpet hadn't been hoovered so it looked grubby. No teaspoons in the room to stir your coffee/tea. Bar/restaurant wasnt open as I think its being worked on.Plenty of pubs/restaurants in walking distance.

Great location and views in a quirky hotel

Small hotel in a converted building. Great décor and fantastic views of the Minster and square. Perfect location just 2 mins from the bus station and all local amenities. Clean rooms and towels. Free water, hot drinks and toiletries. Terrestrial TV. Massive bathroom. The huge bath would benefit from some hand rails as difficult to get in and out and very slippery! The shower was powerful. There are no staff on site so you need to call a mobile number if you need anything - we did not so all good. A delicious and generous hot breakfast was served in the Wheatsheaf pub (right opposite the hotel). I would definitely return to this hotel and Newport is the perfect location to discover the island.
