Amazing stay. Great location. Comfy beds, very clean and organised, friendly staff for whom nothing seemed too much. Great history, lovely beer garden, well stocked bar, nice breakfast including a vegetarian breakfast.

A quaint old fashion hotel set in Dartmoor, a delightful place to stay & relax. Excellent food & fabulous staff. Highly recommended
Absolutely fabulous few days away. This is a real gem of a hotel. Quiet and secluded but a real joy to experience. The staff are so helpful and genuine (Rosie, Sharon and Oliver deserve medals)
There was plenty of choice for breakfast, the cooked breakfast was tasty and well presented.
The evening dinner menu and quality of food was 10/10. I think it could be even better with a slightly extended menu.
We will be back x
Wonderful short break. Perfect if you don’t want the “corporate “ feel to your accommodation. Food at the restaurant was outstanding and the staff are really helpful, going above and beyond to make sure everything was good for us.
Would certainly recommend.
We had to stay at the Rock Inn last minute for a wedding after our airbnb fell through and it was so much better than our original plans. The staff was so helpful and kind, the food was amazing (we had dinner there, as well as the breakfast included with the room fee), and the old pub interiors were so cozy. The rooms could be considered a bit 'dated' but everything was in great condition and very clean so it added to the charm (not to mention the retro gin and whiskey dispenser decoration in our room was very cool!). Driving there is a bit daunting because of the narrow country roads but it is worth the journey. We're hoping to stay again in the future and properly explore Dartmoor from the Rock Inn!
We are an elderly couple & had a four hour journey through difficult weather.
A staff member happened to be outside when we arrived & unasked, helped with parking, unloaded our luggage & took it to our room. On registering we were invited to rest in the lounge, served tea & assisted with telephoning. The room was very comfortable & clean. Breakfast excellent. All the staff were well turned out, friendly & helpful. On departure our luggage was carried from our room & placed in our car.
All the staff at The Rock were so helpful. In particular Sharon! We were quite a large group with many requests but each was dealt with without fuss.
Our room, at the top, was spacious with a fabulous bathroom.
The evening set Menu was all delicious. Great service in the restaurant. Good wine list, interesting selection.
There is a guest book at the Rock Inn which dates back to 1903 and it chronicles the experiences of the people who vacationed there. After reading through it one has to agree that it is a special place.
We had a lovely stay at the Rock Inn. Our room was cosy with a comfy bed. We booked our meals in because the food is superb and the service friendly and attentive. We look forward to going back.
The staff are a credit to the hotel. Location is inside the National Park, with countless walks to hand. Food at the hotel was amazing with a great full English in the morning. Superb local beers in the bar. Cannot fault the place and we will return.
Great location.
Sunset picnic on Haytor was perfect after a drink or two in the garden.
Staff were so friendly.
The light menu offered on the days when the restaurant wasn’t fully open was great.
Will definitely be back.
Perfect for summer or winter.
Exceptional and Food 10 star's if it was possible would rate this as Michelin class .
Very quaint and definitely looking to stay again very soon

The food was good particularly breakfast, Staff service was good, The room was in the attic(Freebooter) and for a 6'3" guy a bit dangerous with slanting wood beams at the end of the bed causing a few bruises. The room ventilation and window lighting was poor (2 small windows). There were two flights of narrow stairs to get to the room and no help with carrying two large suitcases
We stayed here when we were attending a wedding nearby. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel just helped make a fabulous weekend even better. Will definitely visit again.
A delightful one night stay excellent in every respect. Comfortable rooms, delicious food, huge gin selection ~ what more could one want !
We'll be back !
If you are looking for a modern up to date state of the art establishment then this is not for you. If you are looking for bags of character great service fantastic food in a warm cosy tradition environment that is slightly frayed around the edges then look no further. We loved it and would loved to have stayed longer. It is right on the edge of Dartmoor and is absolutely wonderful. The menu is tight but boy oh boy it is excellent. Rooms are great, clean and very tidy with oodles of character. Brilliant
