Some rooms are remodeled, but most are not. The difference between the two group is huge. The first room we got is pretty terrible. The hotel change a room in the end.

Everything is good except fault alert in the early morning 8ish telling everyone to leave the hotel immediately , very scary. Better free the resort fee , I didn’t use any facilities

The walk from the elevators to our room was way too far. At least 2 blocks. The bathroom door would not close. Door needs to be trimmed. Wait in East Bay Provisions way too long. Not enough restaurants. Resort fee excessive on top of excessive room rates. TV should pull out like other hotels for better viewing. I booked with Expedia for $1,994.88. The hotel charged 2,094.80.

We ended up here because of an issue with the VRBO we had actually booked. Traveling with kids and pets often makes having an apartment easier than a hotel but the Claremont was very nice to both our kid and our dog and it was a very smooth visit that we all loved. Truly special place.

The Claremont is a beautiful, historic property. The rooms were clean and well equipped. The staff was friendly and eager to accommodate, however very limited in what they could offer due to the resort’s limitations. chose location to visit our son who is spending a semester at nearby Northeastern Oakland campus and take our daughter on CA college tours. on line description of Claremont as a resort and spa we expected down time relaxing and unwinding at the spa and pool. spa only open for services Thursday-Sunday. Can only schedule appointments Wed-Sunday. called on Wed no spa services were available for our stay. tried to have the concierge schedule us outside of these restrictive hours- unable to help. only dining location with outdoor seating had the patio close for 10 days for construction day after we arrived. When it was still open on day 1 tried to eat outside for late afternoon apps, the hostess refused to seat us because it was 3:45 and she couldn’t let anyone in until 4 PM when the menu changed to dinner/ outdoor option…very bad vibe. The pool and fitness club are misrepresented on line as well. had the impression it is primarily for resort guests but reality “club” is a community health, swim, and tennis club. hotel guests have LIMITED access to. The Saturday and Sunday we tried to use the pool there were no lounge chairs and pool packed w people. No food or beverage service at pool, NOT resort level. aside from clean/safe, VERY disappointing

However, I would be remiss if I didn't apologize for the disappointments you experienced with not being able to utilize all our resort amenities, along with the challenges with the unseasonable perfect weather weekend in mid-March, prior to us opening the full pool operation later in Spring, similar with us getting the Limewood patio deck ready for Easter weekend and the main patio season. These disappointments and challenges you experienced certainly aren't indicative of the fine level of guest experience that we are striving for, and I certainly thank you for highlighting "the staff was friendly and eager to accommodate". Overall, a marvelous experience including dinner at Limewood. Morning lobby coffee from 4-6AM could be extended. Evening champagne toast could be extended beyond just a few minutes. Club/spa area is excellent! All staff very welcoming and effective.
