We very much enjoyed our stay in Walled Garden Mews 6. It has a delightful view over fields to the hills across Loch Melfort. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Upstairs there is a is a charming twin-bedded room adjacent to an open seating area (sofa bed) overlooking the open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen below. The master bedroom on the ground floor has generous clothes-hanging/drawers and a well appointed en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and heated towel rail. Next door there is a good-sized shower-room with basin and WC, kept cosy by a heated towel rail. A wall mounted electric convector heater does a good job in keeping the master bedroom warm. However, the living area is mostly heated by electric storage heaters which are not so effective, given the high ceiling. We would have appreciated more information on how to set them to their optimum performance. There is an electric fire which provides a little heat and a comforting glow. I believe only 2 properties in the Walled Garden have log burners at present. The Wifi was excellent during our stay. However, we had no mobile phone signal and there is no landline phone within Mews 6.
We did not use the swimming pool or recreation room with its snooker table and various games (The Gunpowder Room) but the facilities seemed in good condition. There was also a similar, smaller games room at the Walled Garden. The internal road from the reception, restaurant, tennis courts etc is well maintained but rather narrow so care is required when two vehicles need to pass. From the main road (A816) to the property, for over a mile it is a single track road along the side of Loch Melfort. Very picturesque but with few passing places so drive with care!
