First of all, I want to start off by saying that we would return to this condo if we were to stay in this area again. The owner was very responsive and helpful.
I have to say, we had 2 wonderful dinning experiences. 1. Santee Seafood for lunch and 2. The Lake House. Both spots, I highly recommend.
The area is a bit rundown (I don't know if this is because of COVID) and there is nothing to do outside of the amenities offered onsite and the local restaurants. The condo is right on the lake which is amazing and we brought our blow up kayak, not knowing that the lake has alligators. At first I thought, no way, but first full day there, we were out on one of the docks, and low and behold, an alligator swims on by, measuring at least 8 feet. Therefore, blow up kayak was out of the question from that point forward.
We were not aware prior to booking that the condo is in the Wyndham Lake Marion Santee collection, and it is very confusing when you are trying to find the location to drive there, etc. Also, we were not made aware that the pool, and workout room is part of the Wyndham Clubhouse or whether or not we can take part in the daily social events (Margarita day, ice cream day, etc.) ALL of the staff onsite were nice, helpful, and accommodating. We used the kitchen area by the pool, which is an amazing set up with a small refrigerator and all.
The washing machine stopped working first use, and so we contacted the owner. Someone came out same day to repair the unit, but it wasn't really repaired. The sensor was not working properly, so he showed us how to manipulate it to get it to work as needed. That was helpful, but hopefully noted that machine didn't receive a permanent repair. (I don't want to get charged for the unit being broken)
We were also told that this was a ground unit (we asked because we had 2 dogs), and it was NOT a ground unit. We also paid a non-refundable pet deposit. The website stated no pets, but then mentions a $50 pet fee. When I messaged the owner, she was very responsive and helpful. Once I let her know the pets we were bringing, the fee was actually $200. I thought that was very high, however, we went ahead and moved forward with it regardless.
I know this is out of anyone's control, but the person in the unit above us sounded like an elephant from around 7am until 11pm. Also, I am not sure but maybe there is not a leash law in SC, because most people were letting their dogs outside in the parking lot area off leash.
