The port is also overlooked by the famous Tonnara di Marzamemi, one of the oldest and most important in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, second only to that of Favignana. Walking along the small and picturesque Vicolo Villadorata, crossing the arch, you will enter the heart of the ancient village of Marzamemi: Piazza Regina Margherita. At the end of the alley is the old Church of San Francesco da Paola, or Church of Tonnara. On the opposite side of the square, stands the new Church of San Francesco da Paola, built in 1945 in sandstone, a typical local material.
