We were given room 226 which is right next to a room labeled "Maintenance". On the other side of the maintenance room is a staff office so this is the only hotel room right next to the Maintenance room. There was a really loud mechanical hum that cycled up and down that made it very difficult to sleep. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk they told me they would look into it. I asked them to find out if they could turn whatever it is off or move us.
After calling their maintenance staff we were told that it could be turned off.
The on-site manager at the time told us that she didn't have the authority to move us and that we couldn't get in touch with the Front Office Manager until the next morning, which is when we were leaving.
When I asked for the phone number of the Manager I received a card that had a phone number that sent my right back to the front desk.
When I came back down later in the evening because I couldn't get to sleep and explained the situation they clearly knew what I was talking about once I told them I was in Room 226. They said that is always the last room (with 2 double beds) that they book....which means they know it is a problem. We had arrived around 1 but they wouldn't check us in until later because we had a schedule tour to get to.
In the end, Hyatt rents a room that they know has a problem, they don't give their on-site staff the authority to solve a customer's problem, and they didn't offer us our $$ back.
