Overall, we were quite satisfied with our stay. It was a privilege to be at the centre of things at a relatively affordable rate. Everything was clean and nice; staff was helpful and friendly, which is the same at most places. The French service industry gets a bad wrap. If you are making the effort to speak one or two words in French and observe some basic etiquette, this will go a long way.
I will note a couple of things about the room and hotel in particular that all visitors should know. There is no elevator in the hotel and if you are on the upper floors as we were, there are ALOT of stairs, so if you have any physical limitations, you might reconsider. The 100+ year old building is a complete gut renovation, so there is some residual awkwardness in the upper suites: the bathroom is small and the toilet is actually located behind the front door, which is actually down another flight of stairs--not ideal if you are a night bathroom user. Also, you see the low wood beams--be careful--we bonked our heads several times. We stayed in early April, so the weather was cool---AC was not a factor. Overall, you cannot beat the location for the price so I would highly recommend for that. The room is categorially nice, despite the minor things detailed above.
