Great two night getaway. First night we dined at the onsite restaurant. Very good. Only a 15 minute ride to Meredith. Walter’s Basin was a quick walk for dinner on our second night. We took a pontoon cruise around Squam Lake. Definitely recommend this! Even better if you watch On Golden Pond before you take the cruise. Our room (The Winnipesaukee) was cozy but had ample storage space. There was a refrigerator and 24 hour coffee outside our room. Fresh baked cookies were put out in the afternoon. The stairs to the second floor were steep. Tread carefully. Ask for help with your luggage. Breakfast was delicious. If you like to swim there are no public beaches in Holderness. However, we found a great public beach in Ashland, about two miles from the inn. There were toilets/changing rooms, sandy beach, snack bar, lifeguards, parking and handicap access into the water. Free for seniors $5 if under 65. I highly recommended a stay.
