BRILLIANT getaway for 2

My husband and I wanted to experience The mountains of Spain, and were overwhelmed by the beauty, charm, heights, and unique qualities this region has to offer. Our stay with Robert and William was an unexpected treat. Highly recommend!

Great accommodation in this fabulous location Robert and William are perfect hosts.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cotijo Opazo, the accommodation was first class and the views are to die for. There are great walks from the door step and surrounding area and the guides provided by Robert and William helped us make the most of our stay. We would recommend a stay here for anyone wanting a taste of life in the high Alpujarras and hope to return in the future.

Dear Robert and William, we had a great time at cortijo opazo in august this year! Your house, your garden, the landscape and a lot of hiking routes made our holidays perfect. We have really enjoyed our stay at your house and will recommend it to everybody, who wants to avoid mass tourism, likes the mountains and is able to keep themselves entertained. Exceptional views and very relaxing

We had a lovely week staying at Cortijo Opazo, the property was clean and comfortable with everything we needed in the kitchen. We particularly enjoyed the private terrace where many hours were spent eating, drinking and reading. The gardens were a joy to wander around and we felt very well looked after by the owners. We were particularly grateful to the walking routes that were provided as they took us confidently into the mountains which we enjoyed. We were travelling by motorbike which added an element of excitement as the roads were spectacular to travel on! A great base for exploring the Alpujarras .

Lovely stay

Up high in the mountain, the cottage was very comfortable with some very beautiful sceneries. The property has an amazing garden too. Robert offered us a welcome drink and attended to our stay whenever we had any queries. The recommendations for the local restaurants was also very useful. We loved the occasional visits from the two little dogs! ( very well behaved and they won't enter the house if you don't encourage them). I am glad that I found this quaint cottage. Will return again.

Lovely relaxed and elegant apartment with personal attention to detail

This was without doubt exactly what we needed for a relaxed de-compression time after a strenuous year at work, a house move, and our wedding. The apartment was nicely laid out and equipped (with a varied and interesting selection of books); the shaded terrace allowed for out-door living, the garden was a lovely addition - places to sit and read, or have a drink; and the setting was perfect - just the sound of sheep and goats (and sheepdogs sometimes!) and very few cars passing. Robert and William are gracious hosts who made sure that everything was going to be right for us - and also great cooks.... We will for sure be back.

Delightful base for hiking in Alpujarra

Have recently stayed in this warm and cosy apartment in Cortijo Opazo. We so enjoyed our stay; when weather was cold outside we were really comfortable within and when the sun shone, the view from our terrace was unequalled. Hikes, using literature prepared by our hosts William and Robert, were quite superb and took us on routes other guides did not include, and so it proved to be an excellent centre. The real bonus for us was to find fan-lipped orchids in the paddock area - what a joy, and the meet and greeters, Ella and Oska, made us feel really at home.

Wonderful week!

We enjoyed a wonderful week at Cortijo Opazo in mid-September. The setting could not be more beautiful and peaceful. Our apartment was comfortable, well stocked and very tastefully decorated. We enjoyed two dinners prepared by William and wish we had planned to have more - great food and excellently prepared; guests should definitely plan to eat some meals right there on the patio. The hiking guides that William and Robert have prepared are excellent with essential details that will help even the worse navigator find their way. We highly recommend a stay at Cortijo Opazo and hope to return for another visit in the future.

Paradise Found

We loved absolutely everything about Cortijo Opazo.... Set on a hillside with dramatic views of the beautiful mountains opposite, we woke to the sound of running water and the bells of the goat herd grazing below and wonderful vistas of the spectacular garden that William and Robert have created. Our accommodation was neat, immaculately clean and the attention to detail second to none. From the hairdryer and the lavender bags in the bedroom drawers, the large bookcase stuffed with interesting books, board games and a pair of binoculars to a brilliant and comprehensive 'House Book' detailing places to visit and restaurants to dine in. Our fridge was filled with welcoming comestibles and cold drinks and the guys made every effort to make us feel at home. We won't ever forget the morning coffees on our private terrace festooned with grapes, the gigantic blooms of the agapanthus and the leaning spires of hollyhocks set against the majestic backdrop of the EL Lujar and La Corona mountains... nor watching the brilliant stars in a midnight sky above a silent valley. Robert and William are perfect hosts... Discrete yet to hand when we needed any information on the area, they have achieved the impossible... Seven hundred years on from the creation of the Generalife at the Alhambra, the province of Andalucia has another paradise garden awakening in its midst. Thank you

Rural Spain

High up in the mountains you will still find rural Spain. A love of mountain scenery, flowers, birds, animals, walking and/or just relaxing, should be high on your list of things you enjoy most, to benefit fully from your stay at Cortijo Opazo. Robert and William are excellent hosts; the accommodation is outstanding and their home cooking is "to die for"!! The information they provide for you during your stay is extensive; a good way to encourage you to get to know the area and the many different walks too. You will soon begin to feel very much a part of the local scene and won't want to leave!! There are good local supermarket facilities if you enjoy cooking and some interesting local restaurants and bars that must be tried!! We never want to leave after our stay and we are returning again this September for the eighth time in five years!! That should say it all . . .
