Four of us stayed in this beautiful apt. during Easter week, a very crowded, touristy time in Prague. The apartment was very spacious, and despite crowds in the street only 2 blocks away, it was lovely and quiet. We loved being so close everything - Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Mala Strana - virtually everything, except maybe the Castle, was within walking distance. The apt. is surrounded with great restaurants, cafes, and one of the best restaurants in all of Prague is on the ground floor of the apt. building.( It was a little pricey for us on this particular trip so did not eat there). We loved Choco Cafe across the street,( great hot chocolate) the Czech place on corner of Betlemensk Square (great garlic soup) and the vegetarian place, "Clear Head" a couple blocks away on Borsov.
Besides paying probably half of what we would have paid at a hotel, and having a nice big kitchen available to us, so that we only had to eat out once a day, the other advantage of staying in this apt. was that we were in the capable and ever helpful hands of Mira. I can't sing his praises enough! He schlepped all of us from the airport, and got all our luggage up four flights of stairs ( more about this later). We all had different departure times and he provided transportation for all of us, and even found me another apt. to stay in, as I was in Prague longer than the others. He is a welcome friend to have in Prague, which can be confusing for first timers with its language and money differences. Hats off to him, he will make your stay much easier.
These things about the apt. might not be to your liking:
1.there is no elevator and you must climb 4 flights of stairs! This became part of a great workout for us, so we ended up feeling good about it. Its a little daunting at first though, with all the luggage. Pack lightly....really!
2. The toilet is in a completely separate room from the shower and sink. It was not a problem at all for us and one gets used to it quickly.
We actually cooked quite a bit, and even had a bunch of college kids over for a big dinner and the apt. was perfect for this. They all raved at how big and beautiful the space was. Beds were comfy, everything clean, furniture also big and comfy. Luxurious it is not, but perfect for busy sightseers.
We spent a lot of time at Havelska market, the Easter market, (fabulous roast sausages!) and took trams (very easy) to the Castle and the Brevnov Monastery.
We'll be back!
