"Beautiful hilltop hotel. Off the beaten path with a great view of the town below. Pool was nice and had a bar to get drinks and snacks at. Senior suite had two bedrooms, living room, small dining area and small kitchen area. Town was a quick drive down the hill or a 15 minute walk. Town offered many options for dinner and shopping. Dinner at Elena Taverna was amazing. Highly recommend it. Buffet breakfast was very good. Many different breakfast foods to chose from. You won’t go hungry!"

"Great sunsets! Pool and balcony were great. Huge property with plenty of bathrooms. Marathopoli was a nice town and Voidokilia is a must see. Well equipped kitchen but the water pressure was low so it was hard to clean the sink well. Neighbourhood dogs were an effective alarm clock at 5am. Switched pillows with the children’s room as there was a smell of smoke in our room even though the bedding was clean. "The welcome was basically a key and a QR code. The villa was fine with lovely view and excellent private pool. The awning apparatus needs lubrication and the bedroom shutter is broken. There were only 2 dishwasher tablets and we were expected to buy absolutely every other basic requirement. Nothing provided. The villa is up a very steep hill. The host allowed us to use the washing machine. We greatly enjoyed our stay. The area is fabulous"

"I spent nearly 40 years writing about travel, so I know a thing or two about hotels. Filanthi is a special place in every way. Yes, the sea is right outside and there’s a great restaurant below, but it’s far more than that. This building has been in the same family for many generations (see story in photo) and is now run by a young woman named Eugenia, who has done a flawless job of preserving the charm of her great-grandfather’s home while blending it with artistic, modern touches, for example, the way the beautiful bathroom tiles conjure hillsides of olive, citrus, and sage. She has also introduced comfort elements not typical of Greek hotels. The bed was exceptionally comfortable—nothing like the traditional board-like fare—and the shower was the best I experienced in four weeks of traveling through the Peloponnese. Every detail is unique and thoughtfully chosen; she should be proud of the years of work that went into creating such a space. There was a complimentary bottle of local wine in the room that I didn’t try, and though I never ordered one, my sea-view double came with a balcony cat who was charming and excellent company. My only suggestion: I hope she soon drops “The Project” from the name. In my experience, the hotel is already complete—elegant, well-finished, and deeply memorable."
