Just imagine yourself sitting on a sunny terrace, perched over the river Aude. Then retire into a light and airy house, full of French charm, character features and hand painted murals. Open the beautiful panelled shutters and perhaps drift off to sleep to the sounds of the river flowing past. La Maison Cerisier is situated in a quiet street, just off the main square, with plenty of interesting bars and restaurants just around the corner.
This house started life as a mill, used to provide power to the hat factories situated along the banks of the river Aude. As the hat making industry declined and died out the maison took on a new role, serving the community as an epicerie. When the shop closed the house took on its 3rd and current reincarnation, that of a traditional french family home. Due to its industrial past the house has large rooms, tall ceilings and big windows affording it with a bright and airy feel. Many original features have been retained such as the hand painted languedocien floor tiles, original floor boards and lovely panelled shutters. The previous owner enhanced the original features by adding beautiful murals of local scenes, making this a truly unforgettable house.
The house is spread over 3 floors. On the ground a charming sitting room leading into a well equipped eat in kitchen with plenty of space to sit 8 people around the large dining table. This leads out onto the large terraces overlooking the river with views to the hilltop chateau on the opposite bank and the beautiful pont Vieux.
On the first floor you will find a double and a twin room plus a shower room. The master bedroom has its own freestanding roll top bath. On the second floor there are 2 double rooms plus a shower room.
