First the house : Our family stayed here for one week and we enjoyed every minute of this magical house. We travel a lot and have been fortunate to stay in some very unique houses and villas — this was over the top unique and cultured. The house was beautifully renovated but the owners managed to preserve the culture. It was outfitted with amazing furniture and linens; it had famous original art works, a writers tower, a wine cellar, an outdoor courtyard, a yoga room, and so much space! The views of the city were amazing too!
The service: From the local host we received a warm welcome and even a history lesson about the house and some of Ecuador’s story. She introduced us to Carmen (the caretaker) and showed us all around. The host even sat and played board games with the kids! Every morning Carmen would make a delicious breakfast and set a beautiful table. She made mid-day mint tea and nighttime tea. The house was spotless (even though our three kids were running around).
The location: at first we hesitated on staying in old Quito, but I am so glad we decided to. This house is walkable to museums, churches, plazas, shopping, dining, craft fairs and parks! So much to do in the area!
If you have the opportunity to stay here — do it!! Don’t hesitate!
