I saw reviews about the road noises, it really isn’t a bother. Communication is great with the owner. Photos are real. I enjoyed the game room. The stay here is really nice.
The food scene isn’t a high point, I had Mexican food at Margarita house bar and grill, which was basic.

Our stay was excellent, check in and check out was easy. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We were there for business and hope to return next year for the same business trip. We would also love to come back for a vacation stay in the warmer months to enjoy the pool and the lake.

At first you may think this place is too good to be true- but it’s actually a real place with all the amenities it says it has. Mark is an excellent host!
We’d give this property 6 stars if we could.
The pictures on line of the inside don’t do it justice. Property is gorgeous, immaculate and spacious. The grounds and lakeside areas are lovely and quite well maintained. Mark and Kathy are excellent hosts. We recommend this property!
Amenities abound. Wonderful game room. Loved the beautiful, large saltwater pool, ornamental fish pond and sauna. There is an excellent steakhouse about 10 minutes from the property.

Not a bed and breakfast
I was disappointed that we had a shared bath and there was really not a good place to park. This private residence is marketed as a bed and breakfast but it is really just a home. There is a keurig in the game room for morning coffee but no continental breakfast. We were visiting family so we were only there at night to sleep but we were expecting something with the name, “The lake resort”, and marketed as a bed and breakfast to be something different than someone’s vacation home where they are renting the spare bedrooms. No hand soap in the bathroom or hair dryer. To be fair, it was clean and quiet and if we were looking for a weekend on the lake at someone’s house with a pool, this would fit the bill and it is really the only option near our daughter’s house in Zebulon. We Will be sure to look a little closer at listings in the future so we are sure of what we are booking. The description refers to the apartments so we mis-understood that we would be sharing a bathroom.

Cozy Getaway near Raleigh
The Lakeside Resort is a lovely little B&B with comfy furniture and homey decor. I was there on a business trip, but I'd definitely consider this for a family get-away. The pool and adjacent lake with kayaks and canoes provide ridiculously easy access to water activities, and for rainy days, the game room with pool table, ping pong table, skee-ball, and mini-basketball will keep the kids happily occupied. I had a lovely dinner one evening on the deck outside the game room, watching a heron glide across the lake and offering shrimp to the very friendly outdoor-only cat. The hot tub wasn't in operation while I was there, but that's another big plus in my book. It was incredibly quiet and relaxing at night. Much more cozy and comfortable than a hotel. The bed was quite firm, but I noted that there was a memory foam topper available in my room's closet for those who need a softer mattress. Mark the host was kind and considerate, staying up for my midnight arrival to get me settled in - excellent service! Note that there is no breakfast provided but plenty of coffee and tea, as well as shared fridge space. I made myself instant oatmeal with yogurt, no problem. Also, two of the rooms share a bathroom, so if that's important to you, read the room descriptions carefully before you book.

Read the reviews before booking as there are things that I learned from the reviews that are not described in the Ad.
The PROS are that Mark, the host, was easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable. His house is beautiful and we had a blast in his gameroom, swimming pool and kayaking the lake, adjacent to his property. We sadly did not get to try out his Ax throwing range due to the weather.
The Cons were that this is a private home, parallel to the interstate, in which you are renting a bedroom that may or may not have a shared bathroom. The shared, guest kitchen is a small, pool-side kitchen (without AC) and is on the first floor of the house but we did have access to a shared, mini-fridge and microwave in the bar area which is what we chose to use.
The AC is controled by the owner and was kept around 75 which, personaly, was not comfortable to sleep in but we had no complaints about the level of cleanliness or comfort of the actual King bed/bedroom. We were very thankful to have been give the option of switching from the "Suite" as the suite is a 4th floor loft area which has the back room open to the game room.
Lastly, we were the only guests during our short stay so we did not have to share the rental or it's amazing amenities. We truly appreciate Mark and thank him for our stay.

So much to say about this property. First of all i thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I was looking to get away from everything for a weekend and this was the perfect fix. This property is not for everyone but it was perfect for me. Let me clear up a few things that are confusing on expedia. Zebulon N. Carolina is in the middle of no where. You are 12 to 20 minutes from bars, restaurants, and walmart. If you know that going in your better off. The property has a beautiful bar fully stocked with equiptment, but the have no liquor license, so its byob. Cooking facilities are are available to prepare a chefs meal, but again you eat what you bring and make, no food service. Also there are no spa treatments as advertised on expedia, and the jacuzzi is winter season only. I got exactly what I was looking for in my stay, and Marc was an incredible host. I would absolutely stay again and reccommend this place to any person or couple that want to get away from it all. This is the place for it. Fully booked the property has maybe 12 people in it. More than anything it is a B&B that doesnt serve breakfast. If you know what your getting into you will have a 5 star time. Every review i have seen that wasnt 5 star, was from someone who didnt know what they wrre getting into. So pack some booze and some groceries and come on down. Its like spending a weekend at the lake house you havent bought yet. Thanks again Marc, and happy birthday Sherry.

I just cut and pasted the comment from 2 years ago, which unfortunately I missed before making my reservation: this property SHOULD BE DELISTED! The owner is mentally unstable! -this is the comment: I DO NOT recommend this property. This listing is NOT a resort. While well-appointed, it is a home. The owners live on the ENTIRE main floor. Had we realized, we never would’ve booked these accommodations. It is located right next to highway 64. The drone of traffic is constant. Hospitality was poor. Upon expressing dissatisfaction to the homeowner, he took what we could best describe as an authoritarian stance. It was intimidating. We worried. We had already paid for our stay, photocopies of our credit cards and identification had been made upon arrival, and our suite had uninhibited access from the game room. Even our door in the stairwell didn’t have a lock to secure our suite when we weren’t there. Aside from the pool, use of the amenities was awkward. Access to ice, refrigeration, or a microwave is inconvenient. While we thought to make the best of it, dissatisfied, we left a day early. We did feel valued as guests. We ended up booking another hotel for two nights after leaving “The Lakeside Resort.”

Awesome destination!!
Mark is a very accommodating host! The place is incredible in the pictures, for sure. But you need to see this in person! Beds were to die for comfortable, the game room was a favorite of ours and that pool! We will definitely be returning!!

We absolutely a wonderful time. I wish we could of stayed longer! If we are ever in that part of town we will definitely still there again!
We enjoyed our stay at the resort. The owners were very nice. We were taken on a tour right after arrival, explained the rules and able to ask questions. The bed was very comfortable and the room was nice and large. It is a unique place and we are glad we stayed.
This is a beautifully maintained property with a salt-water pool / patio area, lake access and great game room. The room was comfortable and clean and the owners were friendly and attentive. While the property was well-kept, with many amenities available, it is not truly a "resort." It is a privately-owned house where the owners live on-site and share the common area with the guests. We were not expecting this arrangement, and again, while the facility is well-kept and clean, we were surprised, based on the advertising we read that the room was in a private home. We enjoyed our stay and took advantage of its proximity to the greater Raleigh area. However, we recommend a more direct explanation of accommodations, via Travelocity, Expedia, etc., to give potential visitors a clear understanding of The Lakeside Resort.
