Guest Access:
You'll have the whole boathouse to yourselves, along with the lakeside deck, the jetty, the beach, the two kayaks and one off-street parking space. The property shares the wider lakefront site with a second home, The Lion House, but each home is completely separate and private.
The Neighborhood:
The Rotoiti Boathouse sits on the shore of Lake Rotoiti, a sheltered, bush-fringed lake known for its calm water, swimming, kayaking and trout fishing - a peaceful, natural spot away from the crowds. The Okere Falls Store, with its café and craft-beer garden, and the Kaituna white-water rafting are around 20 minutes' drive at the western end of the lake, and the Manupirua hot pools sit across the water, reachable by boat. Central Rotorua, with its restaurants and attractions, is about 30 minutes away.
Getting Around:
A car is essential out here - the boathouse is on Lake Rotoiti, a little way from town, with off-street parking for one vehicle. By car, Rotorua Airport is about 17 minutes away, the Okere Falls Store and Kaituna rafting around 20, and central Rotorua roughly 30. On the water, the two kayaks are the easiest way to explore the shoreline.
Other Things to Note:
A few things worth knowing: the home is accessed by a set of stairs that guests come up and down, so it suits those who are comfortable on stairs. There's off-street parking for one vehicle. The site is shared with a second, separate home (The Lion House). Two kayaks with life jackets and paddles are provided, and there's a Smart TV inside. WIFI runs at around 515 Mbps.
