Our group of 6 adults just spent a week at Maison Grise, which exceeded our expectations. The photos on the website really can't capture how beautiful the house and its setting are. The interior is cozy and comfortable, the kitchen small but adequate for our needs, and all comforts are well served, including a clean, bright and well-equipped laundry.
The master bedroom and bath (on the first floor) are significantly larger and more elaborate than the upstairs bedrooms. On the second floor two matching bedrooms (with beds that can be separated into two twins) each have large and fully-equipped bathrooms. The 4th bedroom (with a double bed) is actually in the tower, has a door into one of the 2d floor bedrooms, and a very small bathroom, adequate for one person but tight for two.
Outside there are eating areas off the living room, kitchen, a picnic table near the lily pond with a beautiful view of the valley; and the pool is lovely and well-sited. Best of all is the seating area at the top of the turret, with gorgeous, sweeping views of the countryside.
The location is rural (the center of St. Andras d'Allas, just down the hill from the house, consists of several charming houses, a small farm, and a small church) but a boulangerie is just u the street, a large grocery store is only a 10 minutes drive, and Sarlat center is 15 minutes. It is convenient to many of the top attractions in the Dordogne. We also enjoyed walks on paths leading from the house through the countryside.
All business aspects of our rental were handled with ease.
