"I sought out the Writers Cabin for some much needed solitude, reflection, and relaxation, and it could not have been more perfect. The cabin itself is comfortable and beautifully appointed, each thoughtful detail carefully considered--robes for guests, a reading light by the bed, olive oil and kosher salt for cooking. The setting is beautiful, the St. Croix River within walking distance--in my short stay, I saw swans, geese, eagles, and deer. Looking up at the stars from the the wood-fired hot tub was such a treat, and I was thoroughly relaxed after spending time in the spacious sauna. I left feeling completely reset and recharged, and I highly recommend the Writers Cabin for anyone seeking a simple but restorative retreat."

"Sidewalks weren’t maintained during our visit…VERY ICY!The one bedroom at the top of the stairs on the left with the has a broken bed. One of the guests did not sleep well either night. When he sat down on the bed the other side of the mattress went up in the air and the bed frame was broken. The bedroom we stayed in appeared to have used sheets…very wrinkled and wasn’t made up very well giving it the appearance of dirty sheets. The floors throughout the house weren’t the cleanest, especially the kitchen. The one corner of the bedroom we were in had spider webs and dead bugs. The front entryway had dead Asian beetles on the floors. "
