The location is centrally located for everywhere I wanted to go in San Diego. My room was very nice and a great deal. My only small complaint is that the neighborhood looks a little run down, but nothing major.

No room service / cleaning up, of any kind, during an 8 day stay. Had to call the hotel to get more toilet paper. Nice place, but NEEDS A DEEP CLEANING, AND MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT TO TUNE UP systems and practices.

Such a cool place!!! We loved sleeping in the lofted bed! Owners are super friendly and the vintage gift shop is awesome!

The room was pretty dirty. The sheets were stained, specially the fitted sheet and the mattress. The cafe was not open the three days I was there. And there was only a receptionist available on the first day. The selling point for this hotel is that it's nearby the Hillcrest area.

A great neighborhood to walk, eat, drink. Sunday Farmers market is huge. Hotel staff was very attentive. Hotel is clean, cafe is nice. The rooms are unique, my loft bed would be tricky for one with mobility issues.

Bed was comfortable. Check in was easy. Room w the green divider for the bath/toilet was a bit odd in functionality. We had noisy neighbors above us so did not have a quiet night .

My friend suggested I stay at the “Weird Hotel” near Hillcrest. He wasn’t kidding. I should have paid more attention to the description of the microloft. It’s a main room with a weird bathroom and treehouse- style stairs to a lofted bed with a low ceiling. One night is doable, but I was ready to go.

The Abpopa worked well for the 2 of us. It is convenient to everything and the neighborhood is great and very walkable. The property itself is a bit beat. The lock was finicky on the door. The bed was difficult to get to. For us, the room was fine, and the location fantastic. I would not recognize this place for anyone with children or that had mobility issues.

I did not like the bathroom. There is no privacy. You can hear everything and there is a big gap where the door attachs to the "wall". I understand that is a boutique hotel and is designed to accomodate everyting in a small place, but they did not designed comfortable. From the small sofa you can see if there is someone in the toilet. Also, TV was above the a/c and infront of the tv there is the sink. No way to wacth tv from the bed or the sofa. Thin walls There was fridge and microwave. It was clean.

Interesting place.
Very nice place. Central location. Had a full size bed w/ loft room. Modern design that could be made more comfortable if bed was larger. Not best use of space. Room was also too warm. It was in the 50's outside! A/C is down stairs. Needs at least a fan upstairs. Window shades also needed to be more light blocking. Too much sun, wakes guests up. Otherwise, an interesting place.

Clean but worn
The hotel is in a great location in hillcrest. However, the room could use some improvements to the countertops, walls, and shower curtain situation. It seemed worn out in places. However, it was clean.

Loved this modern hip budget hotel that did almost everything perfectly. Parking kinda sucks and there should be a coffeemaker in every room and some clothes hangers. But otherwise it was wonderful. We especially liked the Gooseberries cafe with its exceptional scones ( which run out fast) other pastries and egg sandwiches plus gracious knowledgeable staff. Coffee there is a must every morning and who can resist a pastry. We didnt get a chance to try happy hour or we'd be raving about that too! Back to the hotel, cozy, nice mattress, very clean, great light, relaxed. We will be back!

This is a unique property in the heart of Hillcrest. The uniqueness, though, is dangerous. The rooms have stairs in them in multiple places. Be careful they are easily tripped over as I did at night trying to close a blind. I'm still suffering from bruises. Loved the cool toilet in the room.

This is a great place to stay if your single and want to explore San Diego on a budget. The rooms have good beds, and quaint furnishings. The bathroom door is a bit odd though.

This is the weirdest layout of an apartment/room bathroom ever. The bathroom is behind a little folding door that you open up. Think telephone booth but Totally open on top as the partition doesn't extend to the ceiling. You also can't close the partition once you are seated, meaning there is no privacy. You use the sink in the kitchen to brush teeth, shave, put on make up (no light). The toilet is inches from the shower. Who thought this up? Only good for one person
