Very Nice Hillcrest House

Very nice house on a nice street. Only 15 minutes from airport. Close to everything in Hillcrest and near Balboa Park. Close to highway but not a lot of road noise since bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house.

Bungalow 163

Great little bungalow. Enjoyed the warm classic design. Clean, well equipped kitchen and bath. Easy access. A little noisy from location on 163. But tuned the car noise out soon after check in. I’ll be back.

A great location in Hillcrest & roomy home

The location in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego is great. It is within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, Balboa Park, Little Italy & even downtown. The house itself is good size for up to 4 people & is roomy with a nice kitchen & dining area, although with only 1 bathroom. Unfortunately, the house has a mustiness to it, which is fine as it is an older home, but the bathroom has a constant smell of sewage so not sure if there is a leak going on. The WIFI is spotty at times which affects streaming on the TV as well as using a laptop or phone. Although the listing says there is a washer/dryer in the unit, it is actually down stairs and in the back of the house in a "basement" area that you have to step over a ledge to get to. For anyone with mobility issues, this can be a problem. Also, the listing did not state there is a studio apartment vacation rental also in the back of the home that can have tenants in it at the same time. That vacation rental also has access to the washer/dryer so it should be stated that it is a shared space. There really is no yard to speak of in terms of outdoor space to sit & enjoy the outdoors at all except for a porch swing & a small table & chairs in the carport. The carport is nice, but because of the cramped street, there are multiple cars parked outside of the home; it's difficult at times to get in & out of the carport. The owner is frequently on the property outside without notice.

Great stay

We had a great stay at the house; located in Hillcrest and accessible to many attractions nearby. Host provided prompt and clear communication; went so far as to leaving the lights on for us since we were arriving at night. We would definitely come back next time in the area.

Great location in Hillcrest

We loved our stay at this house in Hillcrest. Andrew is a great host and answered any questions we had quickly. The bed is comfortable. The kitchen is fabulous with everything you need to prepare meals and we did prepare many meals in our two week stay. The front porch swing was a great place for morning coffee or to relax in afternoon. The carport is a real plus and with the garage door is very secure. We walked to many coffee shops and restaurants in Hillcrest which makes the location perfect. We will definitely stay here again on our travels to San Deigo.

San Diego Christmas

We had a great stay in SD over the Holidays thanks to having this awesome property available for our home base ! We loved it and it fit us perfectly for our trip. Very clean with plenty of social space and a nice kitchen with all amenities to cook up a great meal which we did! The Hillcrest area has alot to offer in food and activities. It's perfectly located close to city and yet easy to jump on a highway to get outta town to the mountains or wine country too ! Andrew the owner was outstanding at communicating and available to assist if ever necessary. One thing to note is the home has one Jack and Jill bathroom so you should probably be comfortable with whomever you share the house with !! Highly recommend the house and we would definitely stay again in future....

Disappointed

Restored craftsman home. Beautiful windows throughout , however some don’t open and makes for a very stuffy and hot experience. When you open windows that do open, be prepared for freeway traffic. The house is located right by the freeway. The gate around the property is broken at both entrances and is a safety issue. The carport couldn’t fit our SUV without us having to get on chairs and physically push the garage door up. I wouldn’t stay here again.
