Everyone was fantastic when we got there. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay, however the quality of our company left us feeling unwelcome toward the end. This was not the Hostels fault as far as I can tell, it was just unfortunate circumstances about what was being watched on the communal TV. If you're okay with paying a little too much for pod-style accommodations where you may make some friends, by all means. However if you're looking for more privacy or, in our case, members of the LGBT community you may want to look elsewhere. We are two trans women and it was a little less than ideal.

I’ve stayed in 72 hostels as a free lancer and I’m other capacities both pleasure and work related abroad and in the US. The noice in this hostel was unbelievable. There’s no sound coverings at the top of any of the rooms! I found the one staff member there in the mornings to be cold and the tenants to be just as rude. There’s so many hostels in that area! I’d really encourage you to find another one, especially if you want to shower. It’s cold, tiny and less than appealing. One of the worst I’ve seen and I’ve stayed in some not so fancy places! The lack of respect I felt was pretty unreasonable and I promise you I present as pretty warm (and respectful). I was thus surprised to see and experience what I did while I was there. The one good is it lets you check in by 10am and some hostels are later, but I’m reaching for a positive.

i loved walking into the hostel and feeling very comfortable with the host and regulars there! it was also nice that i met people traveling out of the country which made the experience very exciting would recommend this hostel to anyone

Loved it except for the bedbugs
The place was clean and staff and other residents were super friendly. I liked my pod and having AC and an ice machine were major bonuses. The only downside was there were major bedbugs. In all fairness, as soon as it was reported they did a heat treatment so I wouldn't be carrying them off with me anywhere.

I had reserved the pod share for myself and my family member but we decided that it would be better to stay in a hotel. I was charged for the whole 4 days and only stayed for 1 day. That is unsatisfactory in my opinion. Other than that it is a cozy feeling place to stay. They have community coffee witch was nice and community kitchen, tables, and livingroom in the common area.

BEWARE THE PHYSCO APARTMENT MANAGER W/ BEAR SPRAY!
I've stayed here 7-8 times in the last year or so & virtually every time I've been harassed by the attached to the Podshare is a condo building's apartment manager 6-7 times now verbally because I was smoking a joint on the street corner, this old little WITCH B*TCH this last time gives me sh*t verbally again only this time she walks past me then turns around and comes up behind me and as I felt someone behind me I turn around and she has a can of bear spray already frickin pointing right in my face!!! She sprays me at point blank range & basically ASSAULTED ME!! Had it not been for the fact I was blinded, hit the cement & had my eyes were on FIRE I would have called the police then and pressed charges! Staff at the Podshare had told me the first time I had a confrontation with that lady that "she hated the hostel being there & wasn't the first time she had harassed guests for standing out front of the hostel, smoking or not! The next day I stumbled by the Podshare to pickup some of my things I had left & the jerk desk clerk dustin said I was kicked off the property and leave or he'd call the police, gave me some bull about me being in love with some girl I had just met there he was hitting on or something I don't know, I thought he was gay but maybe don't know, either way he refused to let me get my things! To top it all off the witch was outside the hostel with a couple goons waiting for me, followed me down the street threatening to beat me up & I'm blind, right!!

Nos dejaron más de 30 minutos en la calle sin abrir, cuando abrieron nos dejaron más de 40 min en la recepción esperando que alguien nos registrara. Los huéspedes hicieron comentarios y caras despectivas y racista al ver que éramos mexicanos, yo no quise traducir ni decir nada a mi esposo por no arruinar el viaje pero estuvo pésimo. Al final te hacen hacer una publicación en redes para no cobrarte 6 dólares por el préstamo de una toalla.

Excellent PodShare location. Staff is friendly and helpful! They offer day pass use for both the common area and the lockers in the lobby. There are a couple long term guests and some who are overnight only. Exactly what I would expect!

Was just in town for the night on a gig contract and have stayed at Podshare several times in the last few years. Steven & his staff do a great job managing the place plus I'm glad to see that ownership allowed them to put up a "Clean your dishes" sign!

One of the Top 3 Hostels in San Diego!
I've stayed here @ Podshare when I cruise thru San Diego several times since I first discovered it a couple years ago and loved it. The staff there (Steven & Nigeria - lovely young lady not the country, haha) anyway they're great, super nice, keep the place very clean & make sure the other guests follow the rules & respect others, all in a very nice way. The location is incredible being in a popular part of San Diego known as Little Italy, great restaurants, shops and just a few blocks from the waterfront, value times many! Not trying to let the "cat out of the bag" but if you're traveling to or thru San Diego this summer you owe it to yourself to check the place out, great value for the money!

Still one of the top 2-3 hostels in San Diego!
I just got back from a month in Mexico and stayed at several hostels and every time now when I come back thru San Diego I stay at Podshare in Little Italy, they're the best! The staff (Steven & Nigeria) are always super nice and look to make your stay enjoyable, the place is always very clean, the amenities (kitchen, TV lounge & laundry) are great & being in Little Italy you can't beat the location! Anytime I visit San Diego Podshare is where I stay.

Excellent location and convenience. Best bang for buck if you fall within a specific category of traveler. A bit more privacy in bunk areas would be nice, but isn’t a deal breaker and I will definitely stay again.

Extended my stay twice at Podshare!
I re-booked here extending my stay a few times on this trip. The staff Nigeria & Steven were great hosts, helpful & friendly, they make you feel comfortable and at home in a relaxed atmosphere for sure. With not only a stocked kitchen - you got to buy your own food of course but everything you need is at your disposal besides that. Not to mention there's dozens of fantastic restaurants just blocks away in Little Italy and a piazza with a beautiful water fountain, tables and chairs and live entertainment virtually evey night. If you're looking for a great budget stay you should put Podshare at the TOP of your list when visiting San Diego!

Podshare SD one of the best hostels around!
I stayed here at Podshare San Diego a few years ago as well as many "hostels" or dorm style accommodations over the decades now. Overall one of the best I've stayed at, great & friendly staff, nice amenities from the on-site laundry to the stocked kitchen area, clean bathrooms and a great location a couple blocks from Little Italy a major social & entertainment area.

Staff was great. Very accommodating. Nice communal area. The pods are nice, as they have their own outlets, screens, and lights. Very nice for hostel living.

BEDBUGS!!!! Pics on the internet looked really nice, but the place is a mess. People actually live there, their stuff is everywhere, and the whole place smells like marijuana. On top of that, I found a bedbug on my pillow in the morning and couple bites on my body. Bathrooms were ok. The guy on the resection was very friendly and helpful. Location is great, but I won’t come back there again and would not recommend it.
