We enjoyed our stay at El Colonial. Great location. Very clean. The balcony and the street view was definitely worth it!! We could see El Morro from our apartment. If you can get past the 4 flights and no stairs, it’s a lovely hotel. We’ll be coming back!

Staff was very friendly and super helpful. Anything I needed they were able to help me lightning fast. I will definitely stay here again! As they state there is no elevator so do not bring luggage you will not be able to carry up flights of stairs… free bar with sodas, waters, coffee etc is open 24/7 and was an excellent perk. My favorite part of the hotel is the rooftop terrace above the 4th floor. There was rarely anyone else up there and had a great breeze and views.

Love it! We wanted to stay in the old San Juan to complete our trip, and we are so glad we found the Colonial! The staff was absolutely amazing, the rooms were clean, and the rooftop was nice. Be aware that, like many others in the area, this is a boutique kind of hotel in a historic building, which makes the experience great but don't expect a spacious, super modern room. This space was perfect to explore the area, because let me real, if you are in san juan, you want to spend time outside the room so this is great for that. We thought it was cool that they had an open bar, but they didn't even have puertorrican rum, just cheap rum, vodka and very cheap wine, but my husband liked that they had Medalla, just not anything I could drink, so don't expect anything fancy there. Overall great, and we will for sure return!

I recommend this hotel for a one day stay. Just to explore old San Juan. The drinks are 24-7 free which is very convenient. The staff was nice. Although, upon arrival I believe the manager Cristian wasn’t so pleasing in the very beginning upon arrival.My room 204 the showers were extremely cold I did not get one hot shower while there. Rooms were dark. Spacious for 1 person. My room had an off smell just in the bathroom. I don’t recommend this for a 4 day stay. Acs are great. It is very convenient location. Another good thing is they hold your bags before check in. You can be at the open bar until going in your room. Will I come again? Eh not sure.

The hotel is very cute and the staff was very friendly. Nanny was awesome and I felt welcomed. The unlimited bar was a plus. If you don’t mind stairs no problem. The only thing I didn’t like was that there were no other amenities for the price paid per night. Also having to discard the tissue into the trash can after each time using the bathroom due to the old pipes. The shower is very small. The room was clean and communication was effective through WhatsApp. I don’t recommend if you’re staying longer than 3 nights.

Solid place to stay. Con is no elevator, but you have to walk old San Juan anyway to enjoy this area. Nice room, rooftop lounge and smoking area, building was a monetary for 250 years (said staff). Church across street has same architecture. Drinks came with room stay; avoided cost. Grocery is down the street by a block or two. Great choice and highly walkable.

We had a 5 night stay and it was amazing. The staff was incredible. The doors stay locked at all times and you have a code to enter which is nice. You are right in the heart of old San Juan. The complimentary bar was a huge plus. You can literally walk up to the bar and ask for any drink, alcohol or non, and it’s free. The rooftop lounge was very cozy and beautiful during day or night. If we ever return to PR, we will definitely stay here again.
