Just lovely!

We had a great week at Lantern Cottage. The place is exactly as described, right by the coast (with lovely walks along the Cleveland Way), really quiet when just relaxing at the cottage and with great amenities. We would definitely go back and I am not sure we have ever thought that before!!

Lovely Coastal retreat

Great cottage with impressive facilities. Hot tub was the icing on the cake. Really well equipped kitchen and owner very helpful. Wood burner was a bonus. Would highly recommend.

Great cottage just as described. down a long country lane we enjoyed the isolation and the local walks. Very informative information provided by the owners about the nearby areas. Hot tub fantastic after a days walking.

Lantern Cottage

Everything was just as we hoped for, from the property as a whole to the views from the cottage looking out to the sea and the peace and tranquility of the surrounding area. We could not have had a better holiday in an area we love. Wish we were still there.

Fantastic cottage

We had a great weekend at lantern cottage. Helped by the lovely February weather! Cottage was perfect. Nice surprise to receive champagne on arrival which we enjoyed in the hot tub whilst watching two barn owls flying around. Log burner and underfloor heating kept the cottage lovely and warm during the cold evenings. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

The property is situated on a stunning headland. It was wonderfully quiet and well kitted out. The weather was as expected for November but the underfloor heating and woodburner meant that we were extremely cosy. You could also sit in the hot tub and see the stars and moonlit sea. The cottage is very well equipped and parking is easy and flat. There is a great cooker and some supplies of sauces and foil etc were there. A great base for walking, cycling and sightseeing. Or you could just chill with a book. Will definitely visit again

Gorgeous coastal cottage

Loved our stay at Lantern Cottage. Setting and cottage is gorgeous. Everything you could need to a lovely relaxing holiday. Even though the weather wasn’t great we managed to do a bit of exploring of the coastal paths, along with the seaside resort of Scarborough and Filey. Even when the weather didn’t work with us, we enjoyed spending time in the cottage relaxing. Hot tub was great, and jacuzzi bath was a lovely addition on not so great days. The scenery was amazing, even on misty days when the surroundings felt they could have been from a film. Loved the personal little touches when we arrived such as champagne and chocolates. Would definitely recommend and return to Lantern Cottage.

An excellent base for exploring the North Yorkshire coast

This is a beautiful cottage, clearly an older building but nicely renovated and in great condition. Hot tub and jacuzzi bath are both very good, and the champagne on arrival was very welcome! The location is at the end of a long track, so the cottage is secluded and quiet making for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Importantly the bed is also very comfortable and supportive, which is not something than can be said for every holiday rental! It is easy to get to the coastal paths for walking, and we walked to Boggle Hole and Hayburn Wyke during our stay both of which were well worth the effort. Robin Hood's Bay is a short drive and Scarborough and Whitby are both about 25 mins in the car. It's a good idea to get supplies in advance of travelling as other than local stores with variable hours, you are going to need to go to Scarborough or Whitby. Wifi is strong enough for seamless video streaming, which is good considering the remote location. The hosts may wish to consider adding a small TV to the bedroom for those that like to watch TV in bed of an evening.

Peaceful getaway

Lantern Cottage was just what we were looking for. Away from all the buzz of regular life, peaceful and relaxing. May be too remote for some people so check the walking distances and places you may want to wander to. The hot tub and spa bath were fantastic after a long day walking. We saw red deer on the cinder path, seals in the sea and a white tailed eagle in the woods, wonderful sights. Communication with Steven was great and we had everything we needed for a weeks stay. We had a wonderful time.
