Reception was nice enough (decorated as a Santa’s grotto before Halloween) but the room was grubby. Floors were on slopes as you walk around, enough so that the drawer doors of the bedside cabinets kept opening open there own ! There was also a strong smell of the bathroom as you walked in the room. We asked to be moved but were told no rooms available. I’m glad we only had 1 night here.

I like the original victorian feel needs the cleaners to be bit more thorough and could do with a bit more maintenance like mold and mildew is not good but the pool area is amazing but very slippy needs more walkable mats in there I witnessed the staff fallbover with a bundle of towels in his hand But overall my stay was comfortable

Stayed in room 416. Our main problem was the heat. I asked for the heating to be turned off so we could sleep and she said it was on auto and would go off soon. (We found it difficult to sleep due to the temp of the room) it came on again early in the morning. We used 2 fans but could not stand the heat in the room. It was a relief to go down to breakfast and escape it

We love the hotel and its previous grandeur. I think some guests expect too much of the hotel but all the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and try their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This is an iconic building and hotel in Scarborough a fantastic east coast location should be cherished as a gem in progress
