This hotel is beautiful and small and a perfect getaway! Loved sitting on their chairs, watching the waves, going next door for coffee, and breakfast, and a nice sized room. I can’t wait to come back .

The location is right on the water. Fairly easy to access the black sand beach out front, it’s a place where you want to spend more than one night. We will definitely be back. Very clean rooms. Thank you Black sands inn

The room was immaculate and the property was located right on the water. We were able to watch the birds, whales and sea lions. A gorgeous view of the ocean and sunset, and you can also walk down to the black sands beach, which reminded us of the one in Iceland. The staff corresponded well via email. The restaurants nearby had great food selection as well. It was a lovely and relaxing stay and I would 100% recommend this place. The hundreds of switchbacks (lol!) you have to drive to get here are worth it!

Room was clean. You have to fill out a registration card online. I did this a week before our stay but the day before and the day of our stay, we kept getting notices that we needed to fill it out. Extrerior could use a little refresh but inside was nice, clean and updated.

Amazing stay. Very clean, the kitchen was great since there is not much choice in town for food. Loved the view and being right by the cove. Birds were amazing, and seals everywhere. Great place to come and relax.

Ocean front hot tub was a real treat, balcony with director chairs overlooking the coastline was delightful, direct access to the beach and tide pools was so inviting -- all in a very chill northern CA get away -- what else can you ask for!

Clean, updated room with a balcony. No staff on sight. It was a quiet hotel. Great view. The 20 miles getting to the hotel was twisted and challenging. I would not recommend doing this in the dark. I would stay there again.

We arrived just before dark. Had dinner nearby then back to rooms. They are stunning. As clean as is possible, nicely decorated including all amenities, fireplaces, large bathrooms, comfortable bedrooms and super comfortable bedding highly recommend this hotel

A wonderful place to stay if you are in Shelter Cove. This is the third time I have stayed at this establishment. We reserve this spot every year before Hiking the Lost Coast Trail. It is a nice relaxing set up before hiking into the wilderness. Will continue to stay at this place when hiking in the Lost Coast or in Shelter Cove.
