If you're looking for a quiet and private place for a long weekend, this is a great option. The town of Shokan is super tiny and has very few dining and/or grocery options, so you'd have to head to Woodstock, Kingston or Phoenicia for legit breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking options, but all are just a 15-25 minute drive away. ”

The only thing to note is that there is a bit of walking on a rocky trail before reaching the campsite (not next to the parking spot). The river was fun to explore but can be difficult for younger kids to get to. The campsite is close to Minnewaska State Park, very convenient. ”

“My experience was a perfect match for my needs while in Rhinebeck. The apartment was well appointed, clean and new. I was very pleased with the situation but it was a bit small and would be best for one and not two people. The pipes were noisy when using the water but it wasn’t a big issue. You can hear the people walking around upstairs as well. Overall a very good stay and very reasonable. The owners were awesome! ”
