Beautiful gardens

This villa in Sienna was lovely. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the apartment was true Tuscany and plenty of space for 2 couples . A 20 minute walk took you to restaurants and shopping. Wineries are close to drive as well. Enjoyed our visit.

very nice stay

we had a lovely stay (family of 2 adults+2 children aged 6 and 11): the location is great, 15 minutes walk from the center of Sienna, it is a very nice residence with a great view of Sienna, very peaceful with a very big garden and a nice private swimming pool (shared with the owners). We stayed in apartment 6, which is well furnished, with Air Conditioning in both rooms. The daughter of the owner offered us a tour of Sienna. The kitchen is all equipped and the living room is nice. Overall a very good stay.

Great Location

The house was wonderful. The A/C in the bedroom was great. It was super convenient to have a washer in the apartment. The location is perfect. The walk into Siena is workable but we usually ended up there at night after our day trips and it was very easy to park. This is a wonderful location to do day trips to all of Tuscany. We will be back for sure! Claudia is extremely helpful with recommendations on food, touring and all things Siena.

Beautiful villa outside the city walls

We had three great nights in Siena. The villa is private and walking distance to the city walls. It was clean and the pool was a great bonus. We enjoyed our morning coffee outside. One issue is that the listing says air conditioning and it does not have AC. That said, we didn't really need it. Not sure how August would be but we did fine with the windows open in the evening. The grounds were well kept. The kitchen is tiny and not very well equipped so if you want to really cook a meal, it might be difficult. Beds were very comfortable! Claudia was helpful in getting us a ride to the train station on our check out day. Anna, the owner, lives in the other villa. She checked us in. Overall our stay was great!

Nice property/misleading description

This is a very nice property with an excellent location. The issue we had was that the property was advertised as 2BR while it actually was 1BR for a party of 2. I was traveling with my cousin, necessitating 2 bedrooms. When I learned on the day of check in that it was only 1BR, I was informed quite inflexibly that an additional bedroom would cost an additional €200, required to be paid in cash upon checkin. I do not believe they were trying to deceive us, but rather I was offended and felt pressured by their lack of understanding and inflexibility on the point of their description having been misleading. The overall cost was reasonable for the high quality of the apartment. They just need to work on communication and customer service, in my view.

Excellent hosts!

This accommodation was exactly what we were looking for in Siena post lockdown! An idyllic compound perched on a hillside overlooking the walls of Siena, a very comfortable home and a short walk into town for a little wander and food. And when we wanted to a simple spread, a large supermarket was just 10 mins drive away making self catering a good option as well. Thank you Anna and Claudia for a comfortable 2-week stay. We look forward to coming back again soon!

Peaceful oasis in Siena...

Santa Chiara was an incredible place to stay while we enjoyed Siena and the Tuscan countryside. It had beautiful grounds where we had various places to enjoy the views of the olive groves and the city. It truly is a peaceful oasis to return to each night. Claudia is a very accommodating host. I would recommend hiring her for a city tour early in your stay. We learned a great deal about the city, its traditions, history and art. It is a great foundation for your visit. We would gladly return to visit again. This is a lovely place to stay and in 15 minutes you are in the city. The apartment we stayed in was spacious and well equipped. I like to cook and had everything I needed.

Short stay in Siena

A friend and I were in Italy for a wedding in Firenze, so we decided to take a short trip to Siena (3 days). Claudia and Anna were excellent hosts and the villa and surrounding grounds are beyond beautiful. This is the perfect location for someone without a car who wants to experience the countryside yet have walkable access to the city. We lounged at the pool, walked on paths near olive groves, went shopping, ate delicious food, and roamed the gorgeous streets of Siena. The apartment is quite large and newly renovated with views of the countryside and city. I slept with my window open every night and haven’t slept better in years. This was perfect for our ladies trip, and I can’t wait to return with my family. On our last day, we purchased olive oil produced by Claudia’s family. I highly recommend doing so. If you have time, I think Claudia would be a wonderful tour guide. More information is on their website (separate from VRBO), which I wish we knew about in advance of our trip. Enjoy!!

fantastic 2 week stay in Santa Chiara

Anna & Claudia welcomed us into their stunning house. The apartment was recently stylishly refurbished and immaculately clean. We ate out each day on the peaceful and sheltered patio. In the evenings we sat overlooking the medieval walls of Siena watching the sun set. In the day we relaxed by the pool surrounded by olive groves (I recommend the olive oil - it is very special) overlooking the unspoilt Tuscan countryside. Porta Roma is only minutes walk away and another 20 minutes gentle stroll into Il Campo. There is a grocery shop at the bottom of the road with a small delicatessen of local dishes. The supermarket is half way to Il Campo. Anna asked if there was anything I could recommend she changed. Simple answer - No. This is a special place that we will visit again. Excellent 1 bed apartment 20 mins walk from the main square

Part of a wider (small) complex, with owners living on site. Photos do NOT do justice to the property. Nice bedroom and newly (and modernly) refurbished bathroom and (small) kitchen. Nice living room space. Outside dining space and separate sitting area with view back to Siena. Just don't arrive own the day of the Palio as everything stops in Siena (including the supermarkets, which are closed).

This was walking distance from town but also great views and a feel of being in the Tuscan countryside. Hosts were wonderful as they are on site. The apartment itself was wonderful and comfortable. There were gardens/patio areas plus the pool onsite. We also tried the olive oil that was made on site. Great! Bought 2 bottles! The host helped us set up a cooking class in our apartment one evening and it was an amazing experience. We would stay here again and recommend anyone traveling to Siena to stay here.

Amazing apartment and property near Siena Center - a real gem!

We are a family of 3 and had the pleasure and fortune to find this amazing place to stay near Siena. We stayed in early July for 3 nights. We wanted to be close to Siena center and also have a place with a pool - and from the description we saw that this place would be perfect. And we were not disappointed. We drove in from Firenze via San Giminiano (worth a visit for sure!) and as we approached our destination, we could not believe it would be so perfectly located. The property is magnificent with a super view of the city of Siena on one side and rolling hills on the other side. We were greeted by Claudia, who was an fantastic host, very very friendly and ready to help us with anything we needed. She brought us some nice bread with fresh olive oil, home made from the olive trees that grow on the property. Delicious! She showed us around the property and explained the history of the house and her ancestors - it was very nice to get that background! The apartment was super - we had apartment 2, located in the villa where also Claudia and Anna (her mom) live. The place was immaculate and very spacious, it has two floors, with a bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a sofa bed downstairs. The living room is so big that you can just leave the sofa bed unfolded, very convenient. Our son loved the bed and so did we. The pool area is gorgeous and the views from the pool deck are amazing as well. I did my laps daily, a nice size pool, well maintained and perfect temperature. They also have private parking on site. As described - the walk to Siena Center (Campo) is only 15 minutes, and the grocery store is literally down the street. Claudia recommended several restaurants to us and we were not disappointed. In the apartment itself is plenty of information about Tuscany, restaurants around and things to do. We really loved Claudia, she was so nice an friendly, a super host. We also saw Anna, her mom, several times on the property and she was very friendly and hospitable as well. We had an amazing stay here and would like to thank Claudia and Anna for opening their house to us and making it a super time for us. Thank you and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Siena. Love from the 3 of us!

Santa Chiara provides a wonderfully unique way to experience the Hilltown of all Hilltowns. This beautifully restored rustic property combines, with its close proximity, the energy of a stay within the walls and the character of the Italian countryside. I would recommend this property to both families and anyone who prioritizes authenticity over luxury. Our stay was comfortable and made all the more enjoyable by Claudia’s support and recommendations, along the way. The pool gave us refuge from the heat between our short walks into the town to explore, while the west-facing view from the property’s green space back over the town at dusk could put Kodak back in buisness. Brunello sunsets at Santa Chiara have left a stain of the most positive varietal in my mind. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to return some day. Pete

Adorable but Spacious Apartment with Beautiful Grounds

My husband and I stayed in Villa Santa Chiara for 3 night during our recent trip to Italy. The apartment had everything you could need and was so spacious for the 2 of us. The villa is just a 15 minute walk to the Il Campo and has a grocery store near by which was perfect for getting some wine and meat and cheese to sit on the beautiful lawns and take in the views. Unfortunately, the pool wasn't open when we were there but I'm sure it would have only made it more amazing. Claudia and hosts were so responsive to all my questions prior to arriving and recommended a great tour company for a wine tour. Claudia gave us all the information we needed to see all the sights in Siena as soon as we arrived and was very helpful. Beautiful property with great hosts, I would highly recommend.

Wonderful Villa stay minutes from town.

Fifteen members of my family vacationed in the three apartments for 2 nights at this wonderful Villa. Anna and Claudia welcomed us with salami, bread and wine and made every effort to make us feel at home. (We even had to chance to help them a little with the olive harvest!). They both are very interesting people. The apartments are nicely decorated and very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and it is hard to believe that you are just a walk away from being at the center of Siena. We did not get a chance to utilize the pool but I would imagine that it would be a wonderful plus in the heat of the summer. My siblings were very impressed with our accommodations. I recommend this apartment wholeheartedly.

Explore Siena from this fabulous hillside oasis

Santa Chiara was exactly as described, well equipped, the perfect location from which to explore Siena - just 15 minutes walk to the Piazza del Campo, and a little further to the bus station. The spectacular pool and accommodation were wonderful to retreat to at the end of a full day, or a lovely tranquil place to relax or take a walk through the olive groves, while enjoying views of the ancient city and its walls. It is the best of both worlds, having close pedestrian access to Siena and the peace and quiet of the countryside. Anna and her daughter, Claudia, were very welcoming and helpful. Be sure to take Claudia's free tour of the Duomo and city, and learn more about the art, history and customs of Sienna. We can't imagine a better place to stay and hope to return one day.

best of everything

My husband, 7-year old son and I stayed in an apartment in this stunning estate for a week this past spring. It really was the best of both worlds: a quiet, country setting, within 15-minutes walking distance to the heart of Siena. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable. We so appreciated the wine, bread, salami and olive oil (made from the orchard on the property) as a welcoming gift. Anna's daughter Claudia went above and beyond to help us navigate a challenging situation--and we couldn't have been more grateful. Lots of room to walk around on the grounds (our son enjoyed kicking a soccer ball on the tennis court) and we loved drying our laundry in the greenhouse filled with potted lemon trees. We had a rental car for the week and visited other hill towns on day trips. A wonderful location with kind and gracious hosts! Highly recommend!!

Siamo stati 5 giorni a Siena per capodanno nell' appartamento 6; siamo stati molto bene, la casa è molto comfortevole ed accogliente oltre che ad essere molto comoda per il centro, si raggiunge porta Romana a piedi in qualche minuto e piazza del campo in 15 mn.La possibilità di parcheggiare la macchina nella proprietà evita i problemi di parcheggio non facile a Siena. La casa affacciata sul giardino è tranquilla e soleggiata, molto pulita.Anna e Claudia sono estremamente disponibili ed accoglienti, al nostro arrivo c'era vino, olio, prodotti da loro e pane fresco. Idyllic

The location of the apartment is just perfect. Once inside the estate you could be deep in the Tuscan countryside yet it is only 20 minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of the Campo. We first visited Santa Chiara in 2008 and fell in love with the place and have stayed here nearly every year since. Anna is a very attentive host and the bread, olive and salami on arrival is most welcome The apartment is spacious and well furnished and is a real haven to relax in after a day’s walking round Siena or sightseeing in San Gimignano, Florence, Pienza or any of the many sights within an easy drive from Siena. A lovely way to see many of the hidden gems in Siena is to see if you can locate the emblem of each contrade. We spent many enjoyable hours trying to find a Porcupine or Eagle. There are many restaurants to choose from in Siena. Trattoria Fori Porta is a relatively short walk and is very good. Gallo Nero in via Porrione serves good wholesome Sienese food and also does medieval dishes. An alternative route back from the Campo is to go behind the Torre Mangia, through the Piazza del Mercato and down through the green valley and gardens of Orto de Pecci. This brings you out through the former psychiatric hospital at Porta Romana. We would wholeheartedly recommend this property and will be visiting again in August/September 2014. Gerry and Jane Garvey

Wonderful place to stay

I stayed in Apt. 2 and loved it. It was clean, spacious and, best of all, had fantastic views of Siena. The property is gorgeous. There is a pool and lots of olive trees. The picnic table located in the front of the property was a wonderful place to enjoy lunch or a glass of wine at the end the day while enjoying Siena in the distance and the sunset. It is only a 15 minute walk to Il Campo from the apartment. And, the walk is very pleasant. I would highly recommend Santa Chiara as a base for exploring Siena and the surrounding countryside.
