If you are driving yourself you will need 4 wheel drive as the driveway is steep and a bit rocky. Romey will work with you to get you a ride if you need one at a fair price. "Amazing property, the grounds are well kept, our room was spacious and spotless, the hot springs were amazing. There is a pool and a sauna on the property. The food was incredible - fresh, tasty, great options. Had a buffer breakfast every morning and truly enjoyed it. Had a few lunches and dinners and loved everything. Staff was very nice, everyone was friendly and helpful. The Uber to the town is fast and cheap if you’re not renting a car. Lots of parking if you have a vehicle. Great excursions, you can make arrangements on your own or ask the front desk to make arrangements for you. We found the area very safe. Highly recommend the resort to everyone visiting the area."

"The Hotel del Rio was absolutely amazing. The staff was super helpful in all regards from event planning to dining to recommendations on sights to see etc. The rooms were very clean and modern. Every morning they asked about whether we wanted service or not. The on site amenities were very diverse from sports to spas. Even our kids did not get bored. Lots of trails for walking. The rooms were very private as well, I am not sure I saw or heard another guest except for at the restaurant. Would recommend to anyone and would stay there again if in the area. One of the best places we have stayed on vacation. "

Hotel Mountain Paradise

"We had a wonderful stay here with our 5 teenage/young adult children. I was skeptical that the views and the rooms were as great as the pictures, but they were even better. We had two villas near each other for 7 people and had plenty of space. The location is private, yet a short Uber drive to La Fortuna. The food at the restaurant was great, though not a huge variety. There is AC in the rooms, which wasn't obvious from the listing, but much appreciated. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was so friendly, attentive, and helpful. If I had any criticism, it is that there are no loungers at the pool, only chairs. And yeah, it rained pretty hard on a couple of days. Overall, it was the perfect choice of hotel for us and I highly recommend it."

"Great "bang for your buck"! We were so happy with our big room, nice and clean. We spent one night but had two full days in the hot springs. The breakfast was delicious and the views to the volcano were stunning. We were very pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay again!"

"The individual cabin style rooms are very private and cozy. Almost too cozy! We like to be woken up by the sounds of the jungle and these rooms with heavy curtains are perfect for sleeping in. It was both a blessing and a curse! I do wish they didn’t use BRIGHT WHITE lights. Soft lighting would have been better, and would go much better with their decor. Having a front glassed in and a back open porch was great to enjoy the mornings…. We actually caught a glimpse of a Howler Monkey going by one morning! The birds we saw from our porch were incredible…. Great Curassows, Macaws, Toucans, Hummingbirds, Parakeets, Falcons, and Montezuma Oropendolas to name a few. The breakfast was surprisingly good and the service was very friendly. We enjoyed the omelette station and fresh fruit for sure. One day they had huevos rancheros that were in a great salsa. We had an hour long massage while there and it was great. You can’t beat the price! Be sure to tip in cash so they don’t have to pay any fees on it. My only complaint is the hot springs are not 24 hours, and don’t open until 10AM. They don’t offer any services to speak of other than towel/locker, so I am uncertain why the hours can’t be better. Also there is nowhere to stash your towel and shoes while in the water. Overall we were extremely happy even with that small criticism. "
