Our planned stay was four nights at the Grizzly. They had our credit card as a guarantee. The forecast indicated 5"-7" of snow on the ground if we woke up on our scheduled departure day, and due to the Federal shutdown, we were concerned about our departure date and the bad roads the storm forecast promised us. We informed them on Thursday and then Friday we were going to leave on Saturday instead of Sunday. We asked them to please refund us for Saturday night, as they had charged us for all 4 nights

I called Jay at the Grizzly the week after we returned. He said he would refund one room one night. I said no, we needed two rooms for one night refunded. Then he wanted to argue weather nuance for Cooke City, Mt. saying they had only received an inch of snow. I checked on Sunday precipitation in Cooke City, and it indicated precipitation at 7" for Saturday night into Sunday with below freezing temperatures. We are lucky we left when we did!
Obviously Jay is not going to refund us for the two rooms one night earlier departure. I put us at your mercy for this refund, to do what is right!

They had the heater on and the lights on in our room for us. They told us where to grab food and were above and beyond. We will definetely stay there again.

Terrible bathroom, nice owner
Pros: very friendly owner/manager, cute beds, bonfire at night (sad I missed both nights)
Cons: infrastructure needs updating, not enough plugs and outlets already loaded, no plug in bathroom, no ventilation in bathroom (other than window), what appears to be black mold that was painted over in bathroom, extremely small bathroom overall, tiniest sink area, small shower, door hit toilet and couldn’t even open 90 degrees.
Definitely not worth what we paid, and I wouldn’t have stayed there even if it were less.

We stayed at four different places during our trip to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, and The Grizzly Lodge was by far our favorite!!! We were immediately greeted by a very friendly gentleman and two pups upon our arrival. Everything in the room was very well organized and tidy. The fridge and microwave came in really handy. The beds were comfy, and I appreciated the fact that the TV was Netflix compatible and that the WiFi was good. The lodge hosted a communal bonfire for everyone - love that!
Thank you Grizzly Lodge! I hope to return one day

Comfy cabin overlooking creek. Nice and quiet. Yellowstone is always awesome. October is season change, and things close down. One restaurant in Cooke City still open first weeks of October. Otherwise, microwave and refrigerator are super handy.
