Villa, Sovicille, Siena, Tuscany
Beautiful old villa. Pool was good. WiFi was not good inside. Guests should know, there are no basic cooking ingredients eg salt, oil, coffee or bin bags etc. You do need a car, unless you are travelling by bus. The shops are a long way to walk. opening times of businesses should be checked out too. we arrived late at night, and could not buy coffee etc until the next day.
Beds were very old, not very comfortable. Only 1 pillow each, we could not access the owner to request more. Check when booking if you require more towels - we brought our own luckily. no cleaning products available, and we were asked to clean the kitchen before we left! a higher charge was charged to us for tourist charges than expected. The villas location is gorgeous, but there are dogs, which barked every morning. but this did not disturb us. basic amenities inside the villa. Water was temperamental, Coffee machine did not work. Hairdryers provided but no iron. Visitors should know, there are high steps inside the building, not suitable for very young children, or elderly people. We enjoyed our stay, but wish we had known about all of the above things to be better prepared. Leri the manager was very nice. We found a beautiful restaurant in Sovicille, The local bar was not friendly to guests. so we avoided it. The local shop was friendly and sold so many gorgeous local Italian produce. Siena is definitely worth visiting. The whole area was not that expensive, but be prepared to pay over the price for soft drinks - we were charged approx 7 euros for a glass of fanta / coca cola. 1/2 litre of wine was only 4euros in most places. Be prepared to clean the pool yourself, as no one did this. There were lots of bugs each day floating in the pool, but everything you need is by the pool side. This villa is a great place to stay, but do be prepared to stay here. We very much enjoyed our stay here. Tuscany is a beautiful place to visit, very relaxing and enjoyable.
