About this property

Spacious, luxurious house with a lot of natural wood

  • The house Kaldbakur is situated on the Nollur farm and offers privacy as well as perfect panoramic views. Only first-class natural materials have been used for this spacious house. The 60 m2 living room and kitchen offers an unrestricted view of the fjord. The 6 m2 hot tub is situated under the roof and allows relaxing and enjoying the fantastic views. The designer bathroom has a large shower (4 m2) as well as a tumble dryer and a washing machine. The first bedroom has four beds (1 bunk bed, 1 sleeping sofa), the second bedroom a fantastic king-size bed made of nutwood. All rooms have a view to the fjord.

Great Snowy Stay

Excellent property and location. Wonderful views and close enough to town to get what you need, but far enough away you have peace and solitude. The views are incredible. House is very well furnished and comfortable.

Stunning location with great amenities. The hot tub was amazing—we greatly enjoyed using it multiple times. We utilized the kitchen the whole week we were there, and it had everything we needed. We loved the stereo system. The property location would be dark enough to see the northern lights—but we were unlucky with the weather with cloud coverage while we were there. We may have to return to try again.

Our family of four enjoyed our quiet stay. There was plenty of things to do during the day: whale watching, waterfalls, lava falls, shopping and dining. The view from the house was lovely and we really liked soaking in the hot pot after a full day of sightseeing.

Simply perfect

My wife an I had an absolutely lovely stay. The house is beautiful, and the location is just amazing. We enjoyed the view over the fjord from the hot pot, and watching the Northern Lights right out of the bedroom. Just a short drive from Akureyri but a perfect little secluded hideaway with all the conveniences of home.

This was our second stay at Kaldbakur. We love the location and the view! And we especially appreciate the design elements of this house. Mr Sietz is a fabulous architect/designer! We cooked all of our dinners at the house. The kitchen is sufficiently supplied but you need to bring all food items except for salt/pepper. The bed is very comfortable and the hot pot a real treat! We hope to come back again.

Lovely home!

We loved the location of the home, not too far from town but far enough to be peaceful. Views were amazing and house was very comfortable. It does not have a freezer so this is just something to plan for.

Everything was wonderful It started with the excellent communication with the host-- the guide to the rental was the best one I've ever encountered The views from the living room and sauna were amazing Appliances were high end and worked well We also really liked the music system only thing missing was a freezer in the fridge for ice And the hottub was great and we made good use of it The location was also was convenient for exploring northern iceland Overall we really enjoyed ourselves during our stay and would recommend it to anyone staying in this part of iceland

Comfortable stay with breathtaking views

This is a gorgeous property with stunning views. Everything inside and out was truly perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, morning coffees on the deck, and lounging until late listening to music. The entire space was meticulously decorated and very clean. Staying here is worth shifting your itinerary if necessary. Make sure to go to Akureyri too. It’s just a short drive away, and a wonderful place to visit.

This is a nice modern house in a fantastic location overlooking the fjord. One of our favorite stays in Iceland. Note that the house was missing some basics, such as shampoo, body wash and coffee (but there is a coffee maker), which is quite unusual for Iceland and was a bit of an unpleasant surprise - make sure to plan accordingly. Otherwise, a perfect stay and a good base for exploring Lake Myvatn, Husavik, Akureyri, etc.
