Quick Beach Getaway

My family had spent a few nights in Myrtle Beach for Spring Break. Friends of ours were staying at Hibiscus, so we decided to book 4 days/3 nights. Booking was easy, and we ended up in the condo right above our friends!! How convenient! Checkin was simple, the condo was clean and the view from the balcony was perfect. If the beds were a little more comfortable, I would have given more stars. Definitely would recommend and stay in the future.

Worth it for location

Overall - the location is great and the condo does have a beautiful ocean view. We come to St. Augustine every year and always stay at Hibiscus (in whatever condo we find available) and this was the first time there were no beach chairs/beach towels/umbrella/toys…nothing for the beach. We have kids so we went and spent a fortune on those things. I probably wouldn’t recommend this particular condo to people with kids for that reason. We are from TN and could drive all the extra things we had to purchase back home - but someone flying in wouldn’t be able to do that. The beds were also hard as a rock and the tv didn’t work in my son’s room the whole time we were there. Other than that - communication with the hosts was excellent and if you’re coming to St. Augustine this is a great location with beach access in an area where the beach isn’t super busy, the pools are super nice and one is heated, and there are tons of restaurants very close!

Great location, but…..

It was a great location for all we wanted to do. We were disappointed in the overall condo conditions. It is very much in need of interior painting. The condition of the wood walkways were questionable. Some places needing paint such as the stairs. Some of the railing breaking down in places. We missed not having beach towels or beach chairs. While we purchased towels, we could not purchase chairs as we were flying home. Knowing this ahead of time, we would have made other arrangements. The pools were very nice and the beach access was great. We felt safe it was a safe neighborhood.

Comfortable but could use some small updates

Hibiscus is a great place to stay. Easy access to the beach and all that St Augustine has to offer. The property is well maintained. Unit D203 is a 2nd floor unit that is in good condition. Beds are comfortable enough. Bathrooms are clean enough. The dishwasher runs but does not actually clean so it's clear it needs to be fixed or replaced. The smell inside is pretty harsh. We had very limited bath towels in the unit and they were also in rough condition. Easy and inexpensive to replace with new towels. The dryer has one setting that really works best, so once I found that, it was great. Small things to fix up but overall a nice place to stay.

We enjoyed staying at Hibiscus. We were very thankful for the affordable rates and the ability to book a few days vs. a full week. Our internet went in and out during our stay, but everyone was quick to help fix it and give us an alternative when it quit again. The guest bedroom has a twin and double bed, the double bed mattress needs to be replaced, our girls were sinking in the middle and laying on springs. Overall, we were happy and thankful to happy a place to stay for our Spring Break.

Very Nice

Property lovely and well maintained. only complant was with management communication. Forcing you to log in for every message rather than just emailing or texting you is annoying. Itis hard to sort though all of the messges to ind the one you need (say instructions for opening the door versus rental of baby items which i could have discarded had it been a text). I made a lat minute request for early check in but never received the promised notice of approval.

Great Stay

The property is VERY convenient to beach, pools and venturing out. We saw the ocean from our balcony, the pool was located beside the building. The unit was clean and laid out functionally. We were very pleased. ONE WARNING: The unit does not have beach chairs, umbrella/shelter, nor beach towels. We understood this prior to arrival, as we had inquired, however, there are reasonably priced rental providers, who will set-up and take down daily.

Dogs and…

Trop de chiens… L’insonorisation est pénible. Le voisin du 3e joue avec son chien dans l’app…….ils marchent comme des éléphants…..des jeunes hommes en party qui nous réveillent à minuit en criant et chantant. Après 2 nuits on en avait assez, nous avons devancé notre départ. Les portes patio sont très dures à ouvrir et fermer. Les matelas devraient être changés. On avait pas le câble, la personne de l’office nous a dépanné avec un ?? pour voir les postes réguliers. Un gros merci à ce gentil monsieur. Nous avons perdu la Tranquillité à la piscine après la 3e semaine, beaucoup d’enfants sont arrivés. Je pensais que c’était un endroit pour les gens de 50 ans et plus. Grosse erreur de ma part. Fini le calme….

Avoid D203

Extremley dirty rental, even after reporting it several times. At arrival dishwasher and icemaker was broken. After reporting only the dishwasher worked. The 1st bedroom mattress was literally on its springs. Broken hairdryer too! The balcony should be reported for unsafe conditions; rot everwhere! We found a dirty underwear, old hair filled brush and food under the bed. The other room had dead bugs and you should have seen the floors, my poor socks! Dust filled fans and black stuff covering vents. Noone took responsibility even after reporting the conditions and the fact that two of us had to sleep on the couch. Still waiting for a call back. They state there is enough household items for your stay and that was far from the truth. We had to get toilet paper, tissue paper, beach towels and ice. We could not take it so we checked out a day early. Avoid this company shame on the them for the conditions of their building and false advertising!

Good Stay

Overall good place...great location and close to the beach. Arrived to no toilet paper and minimum kitchen supplies such as paper towels, dish washer detergent, etc. So bring extra. Blinds in bedroom needs to be fixed so blocks outside lights and sunrise. Would recommend.

LABOR DAY VACATION

WE ENJOYED OUR STAY IN THIS CONDO. IT WAS FURNISHED VERY NICELY. I DID SEE THE TINY ANTS FOLKS SPOKE OF BUT THEY WERE NOT TOO BAD. WE ENJOYED THE NICE LARGE TV AND THE BEDS SLEPT GOOD. WE DID HEAR ALL THE NOISE OF KIDS ABOVE US AND I HAD A TIME WITH THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE BEACH ETC. BUT OVERALL WE HAD A GREAT TIME THERE.

Nice, partially updated condo, but...

Unfortunately, housekeeping does a terrible job. They should be fired, and renters compensated when you tell mgmt that the place is DIRTY. I rented 3 condos for the same week. This was the nicest. The stairs need redone; splintered and worn. How about having beach towels for your guests?

Dirty, outdated

Our condo was not cleaned properly. Mgmt stated mine was the 4th complaint and "now, she could do something about it.” The something should have been to OFFER compensation! The owners live in Germany. The furniture was stained and smelly. The vertical blinds had several missing, one held with a paper clip, so opening the bedroom blinds was impossible. Opening living room blinds difficult. Stained towels and wash cloths. Wasp problems, 2 grandsons were swarmed and stung several times. Mirrors and sliding glass door dirty. Toenail clippings on bedroom floor. I have pictures. I have rented from Hibiscus several times. Probably the last.

St. Augustine Get Away

We stayed in Unit D203 for three nights. First time renting at Hibiscus. Property, pools and beach access are great. The unit needs a bit of TLC and upgrading. We did leave a list of suggestions for improvement. It did have great t.v.'s and was comfortable. View of ocean hidden by palm trees. Somewhat surprised that we had to strip the beds and start the laundry before checking out. We have stayed in many condos in New Smyrna Beach and Hilton Head and that was a first.

Nice condo with some minor issues

There are a few minor issues: there was no extra toilet paper, there was no detergent to wash the sheets and towels even though that was one of the list of things to do when leaving, the push button door lock was hard to use, sometimes it locked and sometime it didn't.

Another Great Stay

This was my third visit to D-203 in the last 5 years. The resort was clean and quiet. The pools, hot tub, and resort grounds were immaculate. The staff as always were extremely welcoming and seemed to love their job—which is a rarity anymore. My only complaint is that the grills did not want to light—any of them, so I broiled the steaks I bought in the oven....which did not turn out the greatest. In all fairness this really didn't tarnish my week visit in the least. I look forward to booking again at Hibiscus next year. Thanks for another great vacation!!
