Overall, a pleasant stay, but...

We stayed at The Shelley Point Hotel & Spa for two nights and overall enjoyed our stay, however, think there could be one or two improvements made. We had great customer service at the spa and in the Cattle Baron restaurant, however, the service at reception and in the Doreatha restaurant could do with improvement - very slow and not particularly helpful/knowledgeable about the amenities and menus. The pool was packed out all day, so we visited the nearby beach which was great - free shuttle from the hotel, beach towels and umbrellas, a small tuck shop, a volleyball net, and the option to do a kayak tour. The spa was reasonable and we enjoyed using the sauna, steam room, and hydro pool. The team was excellent and very friendly and accommodating. The hydro pool area however could do with a little bit of maintenance (tiles coming off, windows having a good clean, broken bits on door fixed). The breakfast buffet was plentiful however only having one buffet station at the far end of the restaurant resulted in queues snaking through the hallway area and round tables, and waiting times for cooked foods. The quality of the food was good though. The room was very comfortable and well-kitted out with tea/coffee-making facilities, a large bath, toiletries & air-con. Nice touches of free biltong and golf shirts. We will come back again but hope some improvements have been made to the service.

Besser geht‘s nicht

Ein großartiges Hotel, das sicher zu den schönsten gehört, die wir auf all‘ unseren Reisen gesehen haben. Man merkt in jeder Kleinigkeit die persönliche Note des Besitzers, die selbst die besten Geschäftshotels nicht bieten können. Die Steaks im Restaurant sind allein schon fast die Reise wert.

Absolute Spitzenklasse

Wir kennen hunderte von Hotels in fast jedem Winkel der Erde. Aber dieses gehört zu der Handvoll, die in jedem Aspekt überragend sind. Der Preis, den man für diesen Luxus zahlt ist schier unglaublich, und wir waren sicher nicht das letzte Mal hier.

Enjoyed pleasant stay at Shelly Point Hotel & Spa

Beautiful hotel and good facilities. Pool area was enjoyable along with the koi pool area. Nice touch was the available books with some good tittles. However practically a 2bed unit should have 2 bathrooms and not one. Was disappointed when the Cattle Baron restaurant was fully booked and they recommended room service, yet they had the audacity to charge us a tray fee. It’s was good to see that the hotel staff were eager to please however I do think that with a little more training they could have deliver a great service experience.

A lovely Hotel

We had a wonderful few days. The room was beautiful and we were made to feel very welcome (Aretha at reception was great). The only slightly less positive comments are that the choice of wine wasn’t great, most of the time the bottles of white wine were not very cold. The service in Cattle Baron was mixed as was breakfast service - perhaps new people who didn’t quite know what to do. Cleopatra in the Cattle Baron was so helpful and friendly.

Great Overall Experience with a few points that need improvement: - No Room Service Available (even though the In-Room Brochure states "24hr In-Room Dining") - The Fire Alarms were a bit of an issue going off at 06h00 due to Loadshedding (Power Cuts) with Staff not knowing how to silence the alarms

Good vibrations

Beautiful situation and recently refurbished. Lovely spacious rooms with thoughtful touches. Only drawback was our room was next to the kiddies playroom, so no opportunity for sleeping in late or an afternoon snooze and disappointing that you can’t order drinks at the pool.

Top class Winter break

An amazing Hotel in all respects. Being winter midweek it was nearly empty but service levels remained high and was always eager. It would have been great to have had a room with a view. Each room should be supplied with local information and history. This would be helpful to overseas visitors.

Everything was exceptional! The one area of improvement is the centrally controlled air conditioning. The first night was challenging wrt to the room temperature control! Other than that, all was excellent! Will most def return again😃
