From the outside the property appears abandoned. Inside the smell of dampness and pets. Carpet worn and dirty. Tile cracked. Spider on ceiling. Toliet smelled of urine. No drinking cups in room. Sheets thread bare. Window would not lock, thin dowel rod instead. Beer was left in refrigerator, not okay for a person in recovery.

There were holes in the blankets on the bed. Smoke detector was detached from ceiling and had plastic bag around it. Undesireable and limited breakfast items. Had a bed but no chairs to sit it. Whole room felt unclean and very sketchy!

When I booked the room I didn’t realize it was a smoking room until I checked in. The room smelled awful and the sheets and other furniture had burn marks and holes. Just make sure you look at the details of your room before booking here so you don’t get a smoking one.

Hallways & common areas were dirty. Fan in the room was too loud to run at night. No toilet paper or paper towels in lobby bathroom, staff did not replace when notified. Breakfast was cereal & a jug with 1/2 of milk. No napkins in breakfast area, front desk clerk offered kleenex when we asked for napkins.

Terrible Super 8 in Story City
Terrible place. Reservation was for a king bed but only had a double bed room for us. Old, smelly, and room was dirty. Mold in bathroom, bedspread had holes, and the morning “breakfast” was pathetic. Torn window screens. Parking lot broken concrete. Dirty and old hall carpet. And it cost $184!! Don’t stay here and we won’t consider a Super 8 if this is an example of what they’re like.

The Price is Right!
I was staying in town for work and this was a very convenient location. Overall, the front desk person was very friendly, the room was cleaned well, but unfortunately, there was a bit of a musty odor, in the room I stayed in had two substantial cracks in the base of the tub that clearly leaks water, and you had to be careful not to cut your foot on it. The bed was actually more comfortable than some of the higher in the hotels I had stayed in earlier in the week and the week before. If you're not looking for anything can see, but want something quiet and comfortable, it's definitely priced right!

Credit card machine wasn’t working so we had to get cash. Remotes for tv don’t work, you have to get right up behind the tv to change channels and even then it doesn’t work well. Whirlpool tub had scum all over it. Sheets and comforter smelt like mold, whole room smelt like mold. Don’t stay here. Worst experience of my life.

When booking this property, I saw no mention of the fact that this property has no elevator. We were placed on the 2nd floor and had to carry all our stuff up stairs. I have two bad knees and stairs are very difficult to navigate, even more so with heavy luggage. Had I known there was no elevator, I never would have considered this property in the first place. The front desk has a sign stating the property was sold out, so there was no hope of changing to a ground floor room. The only thing reasonable about this property was the price, but only in comparison to nicer properties in Ames.

This is just a sleep over place for me - breakfast is limited, but it is clean, the folks friendly. I like this Super 8. There is a great nearby Mexican restaurant, btw... just a short walk down the street.

A true pit stop.
It is a Super8 so don't expect it to be nice. Dirty worn carpet. Old linens. Old thread bare blanket peppered with holes. Minimal poor selection for breakfast. Yogurt, cereal and packaged low quality pastries. Would not stay again. We normally stay at much nicer chains like Best Western etc. But we were here for Iowa State grad and prices were sky high everywhere. We needed 2 nights. Total was $360.

Comfy, but smoky
I wish I could give this hotel an excellent rating, because the front desk staff was wonderful, the room was comfortable and generally the stay was good. Breakfast was very simple, but if you like yogurt or oatmeal, you're all set. Unfortunately, the whole hotel smelled faintly like cigarette smoke. Though my room was a non-smoking room, there was a faint odor of cigarettes. For such a small hotel, I would recommend just making the whole thing non-smoking. It's too small of a place for one room to not affect all the rooms. If smoke doesn't bother you, this is a pretty good place to stay: no frills, for a very reasonable price. Also, no iron in the room, so press your clothes at home. The business center is one monitor on a computer tower at a little table in the front lobby. I didn't see a printer. But maybe that's behind the front desk?

The room was not very clean and nothing updated. Couldn't even work the thermostat & bare wires exposed... Bed had hairs on it. :( There were opened, half-used soap & shampoo in shower -- like the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. Pretty sure the manager smokes! -- IN the hotel... Breakfast was a JOKE. :(
