"Needs improvement "

"One of my favorite hotels. The best most thoughtful amenities (sound box for sleeping, local candies, wine, etc), clean and rooftop deck is beautiful. "

"Hotel itself is great. We stay here often when we are in Berkeley. However staff are not trained for 5* hotel. Front desk is polite the most. There is no 5* wording and mannerism. Wait staff is indifferent and tired most of the evenings we dined there. A man who served at breakfast in a cafe was consistently dismissive and gloomy. Considering high end prices we expected a bit more enthusiasm and friendliness typical for such properties. That attitude takes away from the experience. "

"Plenty of breakfast items. Many seats available.Next to shopping. Walkable to near by movie theater. I did have to change the channel in lobby the TV. On that morning 🌅 TV was set on a movie,not a good choice. Bad movie. Staff should choose food channel. Better ambiance for the start of your day when traveling."

"Excellent location and comfortable hotel rooms. Quiet room and comfortable bed. The restaurant for breakfast should be avoided: food sat in the kitchen, was cold, inedible. Restaurant staff inattentive."

"This is a beautiful property but I do not recommend booking through Expedia or any third party websites. Customers who book directly from their website get first dibs on booking. The check in process took almost two hours because they overbooked and the only room they had available was a king bed for four adults. They tried calling nearby hotels but according to the Meritage staff the hotels were booked. However, when I called the other properties there had rooms available. That’s when Meritage miraculously had a two queen available. Also shuttle services to downtown Napa is advertised but the driver is not always there so you will have to take an uber. We asked for water and the staff said there is water in the room, when we didn’t even have a room. This was highly disappointing, we came to celebrate my sister’s birthday but spent the afternoon in the lobby. I would’ve understood if the hotel communicated that they overbooked even an hour before we arrived to Napa but even there were no such texts/emails."

"I stayed two nights; the first night it was busy and loud in the halls, but it did quiet down by 11, the second night the whole property was more quiet. The breakfast was good, but on weekend mornings, they could use a second waffle machine. Parts of the parking lot are not well lit. My room was fairly clean, but had an unpleasant odor, like dirty laundry and the side of the room by the window smelled like urine."

"Spacious, well equipped suites. Comfortable beds. Large flat screen tv in both the bedroom and living room. Included breakfast is very good with many hot and cold items available. Only downsides are that some of the furnishings in our room are beginning to show their age and should be replaced. Also, when our room was cleaned, only one new towel was provided for the two of us, and whoever cleaned the room also removed the soap bar we had brought with us."
