Lovely hotel with good sized family room. Very clean and modern room. Convenient for the beach and short walk into Swanage town centre.

A very traditional hotel, with amazing views of the bay. Food options limited for vegetarians and vegans, but good breakfast menu. The hotel furnishings show some signs of wear, but its position with garden and steps down to the beach outweigh that. The afternoon tea looked great.

This is a beautiful hotel, the views are stunning. The room was excellent, modern and perfectly clean. The food is fantastic and staff were absolutely 5 star. I booked a massage while I was there and it was wonderful, so my recommendation is to stay here if you get a chance! Will definitely stay again.

Very enjoyable one night stay.

Friendly and informative reception. My comfortable sea view room had an excellent sea view and view of Swanage. Very good shower. I had time for a splash around in the pleasant little spa pool. Very good dinner with interesting choices. Not cheap, but very good quality, so still good value. good breakfast in the morning. I'd happily stay again another time.

The hotel had a beautiful, stunning sea view . The garden was kept tidy with pretty flowers and lovely sunbeds to relax in. The hotel was clean, with friendly staff who was very helpful. It was easy to get onto the beach and into Swange town. Lots to see and do.

Mixed reaction

Hotel is very well positioned, overlooking the bay at Swanage and the quiet end of the town. It has been well refurbished so the bedroom was clean and comfortable and the bathroom modern and functional. We were given a card key to let us in after reception closed, but ours didn't work we were lucky other guests were in the bar and got help. The car parking is difficult so prepare to leave your car on the road. The restaurant wasn't open Saturday night but no one advised us to book for Sunday night and it was full! Very disappointing as to walk to town is 20 minutes away. The guy behind the bar was the most unfriendly person i can recall in a customer service role. The lady receptionist was friendly.

Great hotel

We stayed in a superior seaview double room which was on the 3rd floor. Take note there is no lift at the hotel. The room was spacious and comfortably fitted. The view was amazing over Swanage. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Nice room, convenient location, great views. Friendly bar staff. Limited parking on site. (had to park a 5 min walk away but hotel refunded parking costs). Would recommend and return.

Grand Hotel Swanage - a hidden treasure.

Picked this hotel by chance- lovely hotel, very clean and a great location. Friendly, flexible and helpful staff and good food. The bathroom in our large family room looked newly refurbished with a great shower. My only advice is leave the thermals at home it was very warm in the room. Overall a great discovery and we will be back.

Poor service but nice amenities

Service was generally quite poor other than the lovely woman working at the pool and the young man working at the bar who were absolute gems. The staff was generally sluggish and gave bad recommendations and complained to us quite a lot. The room was definitely clean so the cleaning staff had done a stellar job. The room was good other than super noisy with people coming in and out of the staircase to the corridors so I wouldn’t stay here again as i was woken up every time so only slept a few hours. The pool area is nice but tiny, would be nice to be able to throw water on the sauna as you would in a normal sauna. Pool area agin was very clean so their cleaning staff must be really excellent. Was nice to be able to go from the sauna to the sea or to have a pint in between sauna sessions. Really though generally overpriced for what you get. The hotel could really just benefit from a bit of an internal facelift and from change of a lot of the staff and it would be a really special hotel.

Lovely room - bright immaculately clean with lovely bathroom facilities. Lovely dining area with sea views. Minor moan about lack of parking but found a space roadside and room wasn't ready even though we were checking in late afternoon.
