Churchyard cottage is uniquely situated at the convergence of the county borders of Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire in the Vale of the White Horse. The cottage is privately set at the top of a very quiet street next to the impressive St Mary the Virgin Church located in the charming village of Ashbury.
It is the ultimate romantic (couples) getaway with direct access to some of the most beautiful walks on the famous historic Ridgeway.
Making your stay ideal for scenic country strolls to heritage sites and tantalising your taste buds with local produce at neighbouring gastro pubs. And if you are bringing your 4-legged friend(s) it’s a dog’s paradise!
The cottage is set within easy walking or travelling distance to some of the country’s most popular heritage sights and attractions – such as White Horse Hill, Wayland’s Smithy, Stone Henge, Roman Baths in Bath, The Cotswold’s, the City of Oxford and more…
Its privacy, seclusion and superb location are so necessary for the perfect romantic break and are ideally offset by the closeness of facilities in and around the village of Ashbury. Fantastic Public House – The Rose & Crown is just a stone’s throw away from the cottage and has been reviewed highly by many of our previous guests. Sleeps 2.

Overall, it is a very nice property. The amenities were described accurately and questions were answered quickly. The only negatives were that it was quite cold and didn’t really get comfortably warm for a couple of days, also cleaning could be a little more thorough.

The cottage is very cute and the village of Ashbury was enjoyable. The cottage was cold and closed up when we arrived but we soon warmed it up with the wall heaters and wood stove. The washer and dryer in the nearby shed were full size. The bed was comfortable. The nearby pub had delicious food. Our host was very responsive. Our main problem was that I failed to mention that I am allergic to feathers so we had to leave early.

Very quiet and well appointed cottage. Only just big enough for a couple, so it was cozy in October, even without lighting the log burner. There is a pub restaurant in the village. In easy reach of attractions like Avebury and Cotswold country park and gardens - a rare dog-friendly zoo. There is a footpath up to the ridgeway where you can take a long walk to the chalk white horse carved into the hillside. Nice old towns like Cirencester are not too far.

Church Cottage war eine der schönsten Ferienwohnungen, die wir jemals gemietet haben. Idyllisch und ruhig gelegen, direkt unterhalb der Kirche (uns haben die Kirchenglocken tatsächlich überhaupt nicht gestört), ist es ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen direkt vom Haus aus (z.B. zum Uffington Horse) oder in den Cotswalds (wobei man Bourton-on-the-Water am Wochenende besser meiden sollte.). Das Cottage wurde mit viel Liebe zum Detail renoviert und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Der fantastische Pub mit hervorragender Küche in der Nachbarschaft war ein weiteres Highlight.

Really enjoyable stay
Loved the cottage and the surrounding area. Had great communication and check in and out was effortless. It was nice for a change not to have a yellow pages size book of rules to follow unlike some places and as always treated a property with duty and care. A simple check out truly made it a good way to end our mini break. Than you for having us. We have already recommended to friends !us

Lovely property for two in a beautiful location
This was perfect for us. The house is absolutely right for a long weekend for a couple in the countryside. It’s got everything we needed and is in a wonderful location, close to country walks pub. Check in was very easy. Communication was excellent.

Fantastic Find!!!
We have just got home from our 3 night break at Church Cottage...Wow what a beautiful cottage, we could not fault it.
The cottage was spotless and attention to detail including the Christmas decorations made our stay even more special.
The Rose and Crown pub is definitely worth a visit!!
The only downfall was the weather and being so wet restricted where we could walk so we will definitely back in the summer.
We have stayed in many cottages with our dog and can honestly say Church Cottage is one of the best we have stayed at, so we will be looking forward to our next visit.
