The Capitol Hotel is advertised as a 3-star facility. But it is next door to the Capitol Theatre, on the edge of China town, close to tram lines leading to Darling Harbour, the Sydney Bridge, Paddy's Markets and the Queen Victoria Building and to the airport. Train travel from the airport to Central Station was about 15 minutes leaving us less than a 10 minute walk to the hotel. It was perfectly placed for shopping and eating - as long as your first preference is Asian style foods. The rooms are bijou, clean and tidy. Though not spacious (well it is a city centre, budget hotel) there was enough space for two of for a week visit to Sydney. Minor complaints were occasional low hot water pressure, the double wardrobe space was halved by the placement of a fridge and kettle/cup shelf in one side and the other side has a safe, ironing board and iron. There were only 3 coat hangers - most of my clothes stayed in the suitcase and my wife claimed the hangers. Final niggle was that the small bar situated behind the reception desk closed at 21.30 - so order ealy if you want a nightcap in your room. To end on a positive all the staff were really helpful and friendly. I'd be happy to visit again.
