Before I state the negatives, I’d like to say this property has so much potential. If management/ownership were to take the time/effort/money to repair, maintain, and improve staff then this would be a hidden gem I couldn’t wait to return to.
Maintenance. Tons of things were either broken or half done. Stairs not fully finished, broken floors, ancient chairs, the alarm light was even going off on their ATM. And good luck getting the internet to work.
Cleanliness. Nothing was disgusting, but everything was some level of dirty. Hairs on the wall of my shower, various surfaces in my room covered in dust, tiny stain on one of the beds, sticky breakfast floor, etc.
Staff. I would like to give most of the staff the benefit of the doubt, it is clear this place is struggling to hire people. However, they generally seem as if they are there against their will, annoyed, uninvolved, and I think this one guy may have been tweaking. One bright spot was this one guy from the kitchen at breakfast, he was extremely solid and TBH should teach everyone else a thing or two.
Now to the ugly. There were two major problems during my stay, indicating either I just so happened to have terrible luck or this place might be deceitful.
As I was searching hotels while in Helena, I called to confirm the hot tub was working, front desk said it was. When I arrived, both it and pool were closed. Online it said continental breakfast. In the morning they had no milk and no hot food. "
