For Can Tho, the largest city in Vietnam's Mekong Delta area, I booked a day tour with Susan, a 26-year-old woman (with perfect English!) from a nearby village. For four hours we biked around Binh Minh (just outside of Can Tho), where we visited beautiful temples, rice fields, and a local market. We then went back to the riverside location for a night in a homestay. I would highly recommend booking with Susan for an authentic Mekong Delta experience. Fresh fruit galore at this local #market just outside of Can Tho. It's worth going outside of the city for a more authentic experience, and it's so fun being the only tourist somewhere!
About 30 minutes from Can Tho city, is a small Khmer village called Ap Phu Ly. The village, populated with the most friendly people, has a strikingly beautiful Khmer temple - Chau Phu Ly 2. Completely different from other temples seen in Vietnam, it is so worth paying this place a visit!
