The Riva is a broad and buzzing, palm-lined esplanade with numerous lively bars and cafés, as well as oceanfront benches. Bačvice Beach is the most popular beach in the city of Split, attracting both natives and vacationers to its energetic shores. Challenge friends or family to a game of picigin, splash about in the shallow Adriatic waves or sip a beer at one of the beachside bars.

Diocletian’s Palace is home to some of the most remarkable Roman ruins on earth. Once a retirement home for a powerful emperor, this ancient fortress has evolved into Split’s old town. Today, about 3,000 locals now live within its confines. Wander through narrow lanes and look for remains of the old palace and its fortifications.

Split Marina is a luxurious, well-kept marina west of Split’s attractive old town. Rent a deluxe vessel for a leisurely excursion or celebration of a special event or stop at the marina to marvel at the impressive vessels docked at the shore.

Gruž Harbour is the main maritime entrance to Dubrovnik, a busy port for yachts, ferries and cruise ships. Near the harbor is the Dubrovnik Bus Terminal where services will take you to the Old Town, a 10-minute trip, and the outer suburbs. The large dock sits in a sheltered bay approximately 1.4 miles (2 kilometers) from Dubrovnik’s Old Town.

Pile Gate is the main entrance to Dubrovnik’s old town and is situated on its western wall. For many visitors, the portal is their first encounter with the neighborhood’s gorgeous medieval architecture.

Lying beneath Petka Hill, a short distance from the old town of Dubrovnik is Lapad Beach. It is one of several beaches that make up the Lapad Peninsula, a beautiful bay area where you can take part in watersports, relax on the sand and go for seaside walks along the promenade.
