Located on the leveed banks of the Mississippi River, this old plantation has beautiful gardens to stroll though and offers tours with guides dressed in period costumes. You can even host a wedding here!
Can't forget the alligator sculptures!

Once a 300k acre sugar plantation on the Mississippi, this beautiful ante bellum mansion was recent restored by eccentric New Orleans antique dealer, Kevin Kelley. 600 year old live oaks that survived the 1927 flood cradle the grounds and make you feel hobbit-sized. We had a great Disney-like tour from a costumed and corseted lady. Highly recommend a tour. Dinner afterwards at the restaurant here was extraordinary and the topic if my next trove.
Waterlilies at Houmas House Plantation. Lunch at the on-site restaurant, The Carriage House, is delicious and reasonably priced.
